Everything you need to know about the skill competition known as Water Technology.

The need for improvements in water technology is growing very rapidly with the increase in population and WorldSkills understands that and Recognizes Water technology as a very important skill.

In this WorldSkills Competition 2022 special edition, there is going to be a skill competition in water technology and a total of 7 competitors will be participating in the skills competition.

In this article:-

  • What is water technology?
  • Some water technologies might help solve the clean water shortage problem.
  • Why is water technology so important?
  • Where and when is the skill competition in water technology going to take place?

What is water technology?

Water technology refers to any kind of technology that is associated with water-related works. A large portion of water technology is focused on water filtration. Clean water is important for the sustenance of any kind of human settlement from small towns to large cities.

Wastewater treatment has many steps and water technology is needed for all of them. From the collection of wastewater, and transportation of wastewater to the treatment of wastewater. Another big part of water technology is water transportation systems like the ones used to send water to people’s homes.

Another emerging kind of water technology is water collection technology. These are the type of water technologies used to collect fresh water from the atmosphere. Generally used in places where little to no groundwater is available.

Some water technologies might help solve the clean water shortage problem.

One in four people in the world does not have the access to a clean drinking water source. That statement alone is enough to show how big the problem of shortage of clean water is. A lot of organizations are working on technologies to tackle this problem.

Here are some fantastic technologies that are Helping solve the clean water shortage problem:-

  • Solar Powered Water Filtration: The shortage of clean water is not always due to the lack of water, sometimes it is due to the water being contaminated. In developing countries, sewage water is not treated properly and instead is generally sent to waterways. To tackle this problem  Innovative Water Technologies have developed solar-powered water filtration systems capable of filtering around 20,000 liters of water every day.
  • Zero mass water-water from the air: Zero mass water has developed a technology capable of pulling water out of the air, the device that is in the shape of a tower can generate around 20 liters of drinking water. The device itself is solar powered using solar panels as its source of energy.
  • Fog catcher: These days a lot of regions are reporting that all of their groundwater has been used up and entire villages are suffering from water shortage. This was the case for a region of morocco so to tackle the shortage a fog catcher was built. A non-profit, NGO by the name Dar si hmad is the one that built the fog catcher. With a capacity of capturing a whopping 63,000 Liters of water a day.

Why is water technology so important?

The most important aspect of water technology is water treatment as we know clean water is super important. And Water treatment technologies are also used to tackle the water shortage problem in many regions.

Water technologies like fog catchers and water from the air are also used for capturing water for use in places where no water sources are available. Some places in the world do not even have groundwater sources.

Wastewater discharge technologies are also very important, because if Wastewater is not treated and transported carefully the risk of clean water sources getting contaminated increases. In short:

  • Continuity, consistency, and safety of supply
  • Safe removal, treatment, and recycling of wastewater
  • Environmental protection.

Where and when is the Skill Competition in water technology going to take place?

A mechatronics engineer works in a range of different industries like aerospace, Manufacturing, and Robotics.

Speaking of robotics read about the unveiling of the Tesla bot a humanoid robot called Optimus by the CEO of Tesla Elon Musk.

What are the products of Mechatronics Engineering?

A whole bunch of technologies in the present world are a result of Mechatronics but let us see some truly amazing technologies developed as a part of Mechatronics.

  • Sophia the Robot: Sophia is one of the if not the most famous Humanoid Robots, Clips of Sophia answering questions using AI have gone viral many times. Sophia is Officially the first ever robot to gain citizenship in any country. She is a Citizen of Saudi Arabia.
  • I-Limb: Biomechatronics is a newer sub-branch of Mechatronics and brings with it super exciting possibilities for people who are differently abled, people who lost their limbs in accidents, and war veterans who lost limbs while serving. The most sophisticated example of Biomechatronics is I-Limb.
  • Tesla Autopilot: That is right you have mechatronics to thank for self-driving vehicles, Now you can just set the location you want to go to and just sit back and relax while the car drives itself. Even the anti-locking brakes were possible only due to the mechatronics. Now Tesla is using the same AI as their car to train their humanoid robots.

Mechatronics and Biomechatronics are responsible for so many technologies ranging from the smallest of Hard Discs to the biggest of rovers roaming the planet mars and we would not be able to cover every technology that is a result of Mechatronics even if this was a 10000 word-long article.

What is Industry 4.0 skill competition in The WorldSkills all about? And the possibilities of Industry 5.0.

Industry 4.0 or the Fourth industrial revolution is largely associated with cyber-physical systems and includes industries that hope to drastically improve various industrial processes like designing, manufacturing assembly, sharing information, etc.

In this article:-

  • What is Industry 4.0?
  • What are some 4.0 Industries?
  • The possibilities of Industry 5.0.

What is Industry 4.0?

Industry 4.0 also known as the Fourth Industrial revolution refers to a phase of rapid development of new technologies that have forever changed how global production and supply work, It also includes the improvement of the Industrial apparatus we had at the end of Industry 3.0.

Industry 4.0 is also about the modernization and automation of the production and assembly lines with the help of robotics and machines which are capable of detecting any issues within their systems without the human intervention

The things Industry 4.0 brought can be summed up using 4 key points:-

  • Interconnection- The connection of the man, machine, and sensors with the help of the internet, allowing things like remote control over the machines and sharing information over large distances at a few clicks.
  • Information transparency- Since the machines are now connected to the internet and a lot of sensors it has now allowed the operators to collect all sorts of data and helped make the decisions very easy. Because now instead of working on data from one part of the Industrial apparatus you can get data from every part of it.
  • Technical assistance- Now with the advancements in all sorts of technologies, systems in machines could help humans in decision making and solving complex problems. Machines could now also help with dangerous tasks which had to be done by humans previously.
  • Decentralized decisions- Now with the rise of Industry 4.0 Machines could do most of their tasks autonomously, for the most part, only in the case of exceptions, a conflict of interests, or interference a higher authority would need to make the decisions, that too now could be done remotely thanks to the internet.

What are some 4.0 Industries?

Now that you know what Industry 4.0 brought let us some industries that are part of the fourth Industrial revolution.

  • Internet of things(IoT): This industry deals with the system of things connected to each other with the help of the internet and is capable of sharing data in real time with the help of embedded sensors. If done in the context of Industrial apparatus it is also known as IIot or Industrial Internet of Things.
  • Cyber-physical systems(CPS): This Industry is all about developing Cyber-physical systems that are an integration of Physical systems with different networks and computation systems, to control physical processes, and with the help of feedback adapt them to new conditions in real-time.
  • Smart factories: Smart factories Industries deal with the designing and building of smart factories that use Cyber-physical systems, and the Industrial Internet of things technologies to constantly record and store data to improve processes taking place in the factory with the help of other 4.0 Induries’ technologies. Smart factories are also connected to digital systems so it is easy to access the data stored.
  • Artificial Intelligence(AI): AI industry might be the most impactful industry in every aspect of our existence, we are surrounded by AI everywhere from Siri to Alexa, and even some cars now have automatic driving and braking systems. Some AI is also trained to solve problems that human beings just can’t because the amount of data needed to analyze the problem could be in terabytes. AI can also be used to Improve the efficiency of very complex systems like smart factories.

The possibilities of Industry 5.0.

Some people are already talking about the possibilities of Industry 5.0 and what might be the biggest industries for Industry 5.0. But first, every technology that we already have in Industry 4.0 would likely be developed further.

AI is definitely going to be one of the biggest industries in Industry 5.0 along with robotics and we might finally see substantial developments in Humanoid robotics because a certain famous car company has just revealed their humanoid robot, the robot was walking, waving, and even busted a dance move on stage read about it here.

Also, check about the WorldSkills 2022 special edition, they are going to have a skill competition in Industry 4.0 real soon.

Tesla CEO Elon musk revealed Tesla’s Humanoid robot Optimus on the AI day 2022.

Elon Musk the CEO of Tesla, a Tech billionaire, the man who is behind the reusable rockets, and Neuralink has unveiled a humanoid robot named Optimus on AI day 2022, last year on AI day Elon Musk announced the plans for the robot, and that he believes the robot is going to revolutionize the company’s assembly line.

In this article:-

  • Who is Optimus the robot?
  • Unveiling of Optimus the Tesla bot.
  • Why do we even need a Humanoid robot?
  • Why people are so excited about Optimus when there are already some better Humanoid robots

Who is Optimus the robot?

Tesla bot or Optimus is a concept for a Humanoid robot that is gonna be a general-purpose robot, it was announced on AI day 2021 by Elon Musk at the time of the first announcement it was nothing more than a guy in a robot suit but now the bot has come long ways and has had multiple prototypes developed over the past 8 months.

The latest generation of the Optimus is said to be fairly close to the first unit that will be available in the market and comes with a 2.3 kWh battery pack in the chest so Optimus literally has a heart, According to Elon Musk, the robot should cost less than 20,000 American dollars less the Tesla’s electric cars.

The robot uses the same self-driving computer as Tesla’s self-driving Cars, even the process of training the neural network of the Robot is very similar to the Neural network of the Telsa EVs but the data used in training is different, The robot has 28 actuators and a Tesla actuator is capable of lifting a half-ton piano.

Unveiling of Optimus the Tesla bot.

The Back doors of the stage opened and there was a very rough prototype of the Optimus known as Bumble C, C walked on the stage and even busted a dance move “ raise the roof”. Then some clips of C were shown doing different tasks picking up and putting down boxes, watering the plants, etc.

Then the latest generation prototype of the Optimus was shown which looked much more human than C, but sadly this version of Optimus is not capable of walking yet but it is learning to walk and should be able to start walking in a few weeks.

Some features of the latest generation of the Optimus were showcased by the different people from Tesla like the Battery pack, actuators, the brain of the bot, etc. Watch it here.

Why do we even need a Humanoid robot?

The possibilities for the use of Humanoid robots are practically endless but some of the uses that Elon Musk has mentioned over the years are as follows:-

  • Optimus robots can and likely will be used to completely revamp and revolutionize the assembly lines for factories and mega factories.
  • Optimus the robot butler is also a very real possibility as it is inevitable that over the years of development robots will be able to cook and clean.
  • NSFW alert! perhaps not Optimus itself but in an interview with TED, Elon Musk admitted that it is inevitable someone is going to build a sex robot, and considering the increasing number of incels it might not take even a long time.
  • Elon Musk has also promised the internet that he is going to make catgirl robots, who is going to buy them, I don’t know.

Why people are so excited about Optimus when there are already some better Humanoid robots?

There are quite a few reasons for the excitement surrounding Optimus:-

  • The fact Elon Musk is responsible for Optimus is a big one since Elon Musk has done quite a few extraordinary things in the past like reusable rockets, Electric Vehicles, Neurallink, etc.
  • Optimus is going to be mass-produced and just the thought of having a humanoid robot is quite exciting to a lot of people, the price point is also in the affordable range when compared to even the Tesla cars.
  • The fact that the Optimus is going to be a general-purpose robot capable of many different things like cooking, cleaning, etc. Plus the possibility of a catgirl variant is also rather exciting.

The future is looking exciting with new developments in AI, Robotics, VR, etc. And with the reveal of Optimus, it seems Tesla is now going to be at the heart of robotics in the future.

How to write amazing fascination plus the 7 templates I use to write killer fascinations.

Fascinations are powerful sentences that are used everywhere in copywriting in headlines, CTA (call to action), subheads, etc. Why you should read and head my tips and templates for amazing fascinations. This is also an example of fascination.

In this article:-

  • Step-by-step method of writing fascinations.
  • 7 fascination templates I use to write killer fascinations.
  • How to make your fascinations powerful?

Step-by-step method of writing fascinations.

Whenever I have to write a piece of copy the first thing I do is sit down and write at least 50 fascinations so I have these powerful sentences to use throughout my copy and keep it interesting.

Here is how I write Fascinations:-

  • Research:- First step to writing any copy is research and the amount of research depends on how long the copy is, your knowledge about the product, and how much you care about the project. Research in itself is a very deep topic so we will talk about it in the next article that will be about How to do research for copywriting? And more importantly what to research?
  • Writing the fascinations:- Once I am done with research I look at the fascination templates and in a deep work session of around 45 minutes I write as many fascinations as I can only worrying about quantity. Then I go through them and chose the 20 best fascinations if I am writing a short form copy, and if I am writing a long-form copy I would do 4 deep work sessions and choose at least the 50 best fascinations.

⭐ Deep work session is just getting rid of all the distractions and focusing full brain capacity to just do the work. Keeping the sessions short helps in keeping consistent quality.

7 fascination templates I use to write killer fascinations.

  • The “how to” template: this fascination template is all about tapping into people’s curiosity with how-to questions, here is an example How to write killer fascinations using the 2-step technique?
  • The “what” template: This fascination template uses exact information as the promise to the reader example What is the one thing stopping you from losing 20 kilos?
  • The “Number” template: similar to the “what” template this is also all about the specificity of information example The seven little-known signs of internal bleeding and what to do about each.
  • The “Right Wrong” template: This template is divided into two parts first is a statement that seems like it could be true followed by a wrong here is something else you should know example If I just exercise daily I will start losing weight Right? Wrong! you also need a good diet and here is why.
  • The “quickest, easiest” template: This template is all about promising an easy or quick way to solve a problem example The quickest method of mastering mat wrestling, plus the best moves you need to win a gold medal.
  • The “Sneaky” template: This template is all about telling the reader that there are some sneaky things professionals do. Example Sneaky little secret techniques the doctors use to stay fit even when surrounded by sick people.
  • The “Plus” template: This template is about giving your prospect more and more it is like saying here is something you might like plus I will give you this. Example How to do research for copywriting in the easiest way possible? Plus the list of my favorite sites for research. This is an example of a plus template and it might also be the headline of the next article on copywriting that will be published next friday.

How to make your fascinations powerful?

There are a lot of different ways of going about making your fascination powerful some are as follows:-

  • Combining templates: What you can do is take 2 or more templates and write fascination by combining them the easiest template to get started with experimenting with mixing fascination templates is the Plus template because it is literally writing a fascination adding plus and writing another fascination.
  • Improving your vocabulary: Now this is something you will need to do only if you have not done the research properly, but even if you have done proper research still having some strong words in your vocabulary helps just make sure words are not too complicated.

⭐ Another way of making your fascination more powerful is by using something called the value equation, I will talk about it in a future article.

If you have not read last week’s articles read it here.

For the next Friday’s article, it will be How to do research for copywriting in the easiest way possible? Plus the list of my favorite sites for research.

Harjot Kaur Bamhrah’s deplorable reply to a brave girl, and the the menstrual sanitation problem in India.

The Words “ Next you will ask for free Condoms”, have taken social media by storm, These are the words of the chief of Bihar’s Child & Women Development Corporation Harjot Kaur Bamhrah, let us see in this article why the above words have angered people.

In this article:-

  • What is the context of the snarky reply?
  • An apology that feels less like an apology and more like damage control.
  • The menstrual sanitation problem in India.

What is the context of the snarky reply?

The snarky reply by the chief of Bihar’s Child & Women Development Corporation Harjot Kaur Bamhrah was made to a schoolgirl from Bihar during a workshop of the Sashakt Beti, Samriddh Bihar which translates to Empowered Daughter, Prosperous Bihar.

A very reasonable request by a girl that the sanitary pads should be provided by the government at a subsidized price somehow triggered the response Next you will ask for free condoms by the chief of Bihar’s Child & Women Development Corporation.

The fact that remark was made by a woman who is the chief of Bihar’s Child & Women Development Corporation during a workshop for a program called Sashakt Beti, Samriddh Bihar makes it all the more deplorable.

When the girl argued that it is the government’s duty to prove some facilities for the daughters of their region if they expect to get votes from them in reply to which the IAS Harjot Kaur Bamhrah asked them to move to Pakistan and please remember that the girl never asked for free sanitary pads only that they should be provided at a subsidized price.

An apology that feels less like an apology and more like damage control.

The chief of Bihar’s Child & Women Development Corporation has apologized but instead of it feeling like a genuine apology it feels more like damage control because instead of admitting the remarks made by her during the workshop were insensitive. And she would approach matters more carefully in the future.

A person in her position should understand it is very demoralizing to the girl who was already showing a lot of courage in talking on a subject considered taboo by the vast majority of the population.

Instead, The IAS Harjot Kaur Bamhrah tried to spin it in a way that she was trying to empower the girl and make her understand she does not need anyone and should be able to solve her problems herself, which might have been understandable if not for her other remarks like the Pakistan one or the Bathroom one.

But it does not mean we should hate The IAS officer because people are capable of changing so, let us hope she will learn from this incident and work for women’s empowerment, she is a smart woman and we need her to use her intellect for the betterment of women.

The menstrual sanitation problem in India.

There are over 40 crore menstruating women in India and only somewhere between 20% to 30% of the 40 crore women use sanitary pads the situation is especially bad in the rural parts of India but even in the Urban parts of India the percentage only goes up to 52%.

Over 70% of adolescent girls do not even know about menstruation until the time they have their first period, which is a blow to their self-esteem and adversely affects their confidence. But why?

The main reasons behind the above are a combination of two things

  • The subject of menstruation is considered taboo by the larger portion of the population because of a combination of cultural and religious beliefs and a lack of education or knowledge.
  • The reason for the lack of use of sanitary pads can also be attributed to the fact that a significant portion of the population just can not afford them and for some places, they are not even readily available though it is changing with the rise of the internet and e-commerce.

The only way to make sure the subject of menstruation and sanitary pads becomes non-taboo is to have a dialogue about them and teach the people it is not just okay to use sanitary pads during a period but its actually the necessary thing to do, and some steps should also be taken to make them more affordable and readily available.

Things like I don’t need a man sound good when you are in a privileged position but that is not a reality for the majority of the women in India, Let us say both men and women are flawed and troubled creatures and let us both help each other become a little less flawed and troubled.

Organic marketing vs Paid marketing And which one is best for your goals.

The goal of all marketing efforts is to grow a business either by acquiring new customers or by getting existing customers to make more purchases. There are many ways to go about it some are paid or inorganic and some are free or organic.

Most businesses use a combination of both paid and organic marketing, But like everything, there are exceptions to this way of going about marketing and some entrepreneurs have set up multi-million dollar businesses purely using one type of marketing.

In this article:-

  • What are Organic and Inorganic marketing?
  • What are the differences between Organic and Inorganic marketing?
  • Which one is best for your goals?
  • Something you might wanna know.

What are Organic and Inorganic marketing?

Organic marketing:- Organic marketing refers to the different types of marketing that use ways to naturally get traffic and customers rather than artificially or via paid mediums of marketing, some types of organic marketing are:-

  • Unpaid social media posts on sites like Instagram, Twitter, Facebook, etc.
  • Blog posts in the blog section of the website or there can even be a dedicated blog website.
  • Email newsletters for both building a relationship with prospects and product launches.
  • Youtube as in posting your content or it could be something as simple as a shoutout from a known creator.
  • SEO aka Search engine optimization is done to increase the visibility of your website.

Inorganic marketing:- Inorganic marketing or paid marketing refers to using types of marketing that rely on artificial traffic meaning paying to get traffic, some types of Inorganic marketing are:-

  • Paid ads on different platforms like google ads, Facebook ads, etc., and there are also different types of ads search ads, display ads, video ads, etc.
  • Sponsored posts on social media platforms by well-known creators with an audience that overlaps the target market for the business.
  • Sponsoring parts of a youtube video is also rather common.
  • A lot of businesses also run affiliate programs.

What are the differences between organic and inorganic marketing?

  • Organic and Inorganic marketing differ when it comes to monetary investment, you have to directly pay for traffic in Inorganic marketing, it is more like an exchange than an investment. Whereas in Organic marketing given you don’t use paid tools it can be an investment of purely time and effort instead of money.
  • Organic marketing is comparatively slower when it comes to giving results for your investment, in the case of Inorganic marketing as soon as you pay up in less than a week you will start seeing traffic coming to you, but for Organic marketing, results might show up months down the road.

Which one is best for your goals?

In most cases, it is best to use some kind of combination of both Organic and Inorganic marketing because it is always better to use all the possible resources you can to maximize the growth of your business.

If you have to choose one then If you have money and a tight schedule for growth you should go with paid or Inorganic marketing, but if you are tight on budget but have a lot of time to spare Organic marketing might be the move for you.

But these days organic marketing on social media platforms is becoming super hard as most of the organic posts get lost in the sea of paid posts and you have META to thank for that.

But it is not all darkness you can now use reels which for the most part as long as you have good content and consistency can grow into a successful stream of traffic to your business.

As you can see it is not a right-wrong, yes-no question a lot of deliberation needs to happen in order to make a decision I hope the above information at least helps make it easier to deliberate.

Something you might wanna know.

If you already have some kind of marketing efforts going on, then here is how you can make them a lot better without changing your marketing strategy. Copywriting is probably one of the few things stopping you from achieving the kind of business success you want.

Copywriting at the very least is gonna significantly improve your sales and growth or in the best case can double your sales.

National logistics policy, How it will change logistics across India- know about it

The eagerly anticipated policy framework was unveiled on September 17 by prime minister Modi. While addressing the needs of all the major players in the enormous yet disjointed logistics sector of the country, the National logistics policy.

The new framework strongly emphasizes streamlining procedures for seamless collaboration and lowering overall logistical costs, in addition to encouraging job creation and workforce skill development.

The policy has been brought in tandem with the Prime Minister’s ambitious GatiShakti national master plan. Which was launched the previous year to build robust infrastructure, fill the missing gaps in logistics, and draw more investments into the country.

The size of the Indian logistics market was about $250 billion in FY21 and it is estimated that this sector will grow to $380 billion by 2025, at a compound annual growth rate of 10-12 per cent.

This holds great relevance for India’s economic growth. According to industry data, India has a higher logistics cost as a percentage of GDP at 13-14 per cent compared with the BRICS (Brazil, Russia, India, China & South Africa) average of 11 per cent. Along with the higher costs of movement of logistics in India. It’s not easy and seamless, as per data for the movement of goods it’s a cumbersome process as it requires lots of checking and paperwork with different departments all functioning in silos which many times leads to the missing of products. As per the government and experts’ opinion on the National Logistics Policy (NLP), it is the right step in the direction of removing those inefficiencies.

The importance of logistics movement came to the fore at the time of the pandemic especially when essential commodities had to be delivered across the length and breadth of the country during the COVID period. These included fast-moving consumer goods and pharmaceutical sector products such as oxygen cylinders, vaccinations, and medical aid. So it is being seen as a much-needed one.

During the launch of the policy at Vigyan Bhawan, Prime Minister said the National Logistics Policy will bring new energy to all sectors. He said that policy is a beginning and that ‘policy plus performance is equal to progress. When parameters, roadmap, and the timeline for performance come together then policy plus performance equals progress. He also established coherence between the speed with cheetah moves in the same way we want our logistics to be moved across places with the same speed and efficiency.

He also said, the new NLP is not something that has come on the table overnight and has been drafted on paper, there are 8 years of hard work behind it. An umbrella policy for the logistics sector has been in the works for around three-four years. It was felt that the logistics cost in India is high compared to other developed economies. India’s logistics cost as a proportion of the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) is believed to be around 13-14 per cent. The government now aims to bring it down to single digits as soon as possible.

The Prime Minister reiterated that schemes like Sagarmala, and Bharatmala, expedited the work of Dedicated Freight Corridors to improve logistics connectivity for systematic infrastructure development. PM Modi pointed out that the total capacity of Indian ports has increased significantly and the average turn-around time of container vessels has come down from 44 hours to 26 hours.

The Prime Minister also launched the Unified Logistics Interface Platform-ULIP which will bring all the digital services related to the transportation sector into a single portal. It will be some kind of cab booking system where a customer will find the best route and on-time containers which will eventually free the exporters from a host of very long and cumbersome processes. A new digital platform–Ease of logistics Services or E-Logs–has also been launched, through which industry associations can take up any issues about operations and performance with the government. “A complete system has also been put in place for the speedy resolution of such cases”, he said.

Along with ULIP and E-Logs, the other two schemes had been implemented through the Comprehensive Logistics Action Plan (CLAP) under NLP, includes:

  • Integration of Digital System (IDS)
  • System Improvement Group (SIG)

As the logistics sector in India is highly fragmented with most of the marginal players having no access to technology and digitalization, hence “Unified Logistics Interface Program” (ULIP) becomes a very important cog in the wheel. For a large part of the logistics industry, ULIP will help in reducing time and costs, in well-organized inventory management, as per the industry experts

Some states such as Andhra Pradesh, Assam, Chhattisgarh, Gujarat, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Kerala, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Manipur, Mizoram, Rajasthan, Telangana, and Uttar Pradesh have already formed their logistics policy along with Logistics policies of 13 states are still in the draft stage.
