Worried About Market Volatility Lock in Shriram Unnati FD’s High Rates While You Still Can

While President Trump’s 90-day tariff pause has come as a welcome respite for volatile equity markets, the fact that there continues to be policy uncertainty will mean that business investment is likely to be sluggish in the near-future. This increasing economic uncertainty is also why the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) changed its monetary policy stance from ‘neutral’ to ‘accommodative’ when it announced a 25 basis points cut in the repo rate to 6.00% earlier this month. This represents a significant shift in the RBI’s outlook – an accommodative stance effectively means that rate hikes are off the table for now and leaves room for further rate cuts if inflation stays under control.

Choose Shriram FD for High Returns, Beat Market Volatility

For Indian investors, this changing economic and policy environment is a signal to urgently rethink their asset allocation strategy, leaning more heavily towards the stability of fixed-return instruments. With global trade tensions still unresolved and India’s economic growth still under pressure, the likelihood of further monetary easing by the RBI looms large. This means that interest rates, especially on Fixed Deposits (FDs), may trend downward in the coming months. Many banks and financial institutions have already lowered their deposit rates following the recent repo rate cut. This presents a narrow window of opportunity for discerning investors to lock in higher returns with the few institutions that are yet to revise their rates downward.

The Smart Investors Response to Upcoming FD Rate Cuts

In times of market volatility and economic uncertainty, experienced investors know the value of predictability. FDs offer stability and predictable returns, making them a smart choice when equity markets are choppy and interest rates are on the way down.

Shriram Unnati Fixed Deposit, in particular, stand out by offering some of the highest interest rates in the market today. For investors seeking stability without compromising on returns amidst the market fluctuations, this is an ideal moment to take advantage of the current high interest rates.

Prospective investors are, therefore, encouraged to lock in Shriram FD’s high interest rates now to optimise their investment outcomes. This move can help mitigate the impact of future FD rate cut.

Key Benefits of Investing in Shriram Unnati Fixed Deposit

For those seeking a reliable investment option to navigate market volatility, Shriram Unnati Fixed Deposit offers a compelling set of benefits that cater to diverse financial needs and help maximise savings. Here are some of the key advantages:

  • Predictable Returns: Shriram FD offers competitive interest rates, providing stability and predictability in uncertain financial environments. Customers can enjoy high interest rates up to 9.40%* p.a., inclusive of 0.50%* p.a. for senior citizens and 0.10%* p.a. for women depositors.

  • Flexible Term Options: Investors can choose tenure options ranging from 12 to 60 months, allowing them to tailor their investments according to specific financial goals and risk tolerance.

  • Multiple Interest Payout Options: Shriram FD offers diverse interest payout options-monthly, quarterly, half-yearly, yearly, and on maturity-enabling investors to manage cash flows effectively.

  • Low Minimum Investment: Investors can begin their wealth creation with a minimum deposit amount of ₹5,000.

  • High Credit Ratings: Shriram Finance is highly rated, with credit ratings of “[ICRA]AA+ (Stable)” by ICRA and “IND AA+/Stable” by India Ratings and Research, ensuring reliability for investors.

  • Intuitive Digital Platform: The company offers a smooth customer experience through its seamless and user-friendly digital platform, facilitating easy management of the FD online.

Conclusion

Navigating market volatility in these turbulent times requires prudent investment choices. Shriram Unnati Fixed Deposit provides a reliable pathway to predictable returns and financial stability, helping investors build a reliable financial future despite market volatilities. By choosing Shriram FD, investors can make a strategic move towards maximising savings and achieving their long-term financial goals with confidence.

Mobius Foundation Hosts Panel Discussion on Saving the Himalayan Cryosphere

In observance of the United Nations’ International Year of Glaciers’ Preservation, the Mobius Foundation, founded by Mr. Pradip Burman, convened a thought-provoking panel discussion titled “Water Towers of Asia: Cryosphere, Climate Change, and Solutions” at Bikaner House, New Delhi. The event marked Earth Day with a sense of urgency and purpose, bringing together eminent voices from academia, policymakers, and environmentalists to examine the critical state of the Himalayan cryosphere and its far-reaching implications.

Eminent experts and speakers gather at the panel discussion titled “Water Towers of Asia: Cryosphere, Climate Change, and Solutions” hosted by Mobius Foundation

The evening commenced with a keynote address by Mr. Praveen Grag, IAS (Retd.), President of the Mobius Foundation, who set the tone for the event with a compelling call to action. He emphasised the Himalayas as the “Water Towers of Asia” – a vast system of glaciers and snow is under severe threat due to accelerating climate change. Protecting these glaciers is not just an environmental imperative but a necessity for the survival of billions who depend on them. He stressed the urgent need for solutions based on science. He called for strong steps to reduce carbon emissions, while also encouraging people of all ages, especially the youth, to take part in protecting the environment and communities.

Moderated by climate policy expert Dr. Sulagna Chattopadhyay (Secretary General of the LIGHTS Foundation and Editor-in-Chief at Geography and You), the panel brought together an accomplished group of speakers including Prof. A.P. Dimri, Director of the Indian Institute of Geomagnetism in Mumbai; Mr. Brij Mohan Singh Rathore, IFS, Ex-Joint Secretary – Ministry of Environment, Forests and Climate Change; Ex-Chief Policy Advisor, ICIMOD, Kathmandu; Prof. Anil Kulkarni, Distinguished Visiting Scientist at the Divecha Center for Climate Change, IISc, Bengaluru; Captain (Retd.) Anurag Bisen, Senior Fellow at the Vivekananda International Foundation in New Delhi. All four panellists contributed insights from decades of their research, field experience, and policy engagement.

Prof. A P Dimri highlighted that the cryosphere is not isolated; it influences and is influenced by global climate systems. Changes in snow and ice patterns in the Himalayas can alter atmospheric circulation and precipitation patterns across South Asia. These shifts affect agriculture, hydropower generation, and monsoon dynamics. A deeper understanding of these interconnected systems is vital for developing accurate climate models and effective policy responses.

Mr. Brij Mohan Singh Rathore said Community-based conservation is no longer just a noble idea-it’s a necessity. Local communities that live closest to the glaciers have traditional knowledge that is crucial to protecting them. By involving them in planning and implementation, we not only enhance the effectiveness of conservation programs but also ensure long-term stewardship of these critical ecosystems.

Prof. Anil Kulkarni emphasised that accelerated glacial melt due to rising temperatures poses a grave threat to these natural water towers. If we continue on the current trajectory, seasonal water availability will become more erratic, increasing the risk of both floods and droughts. Long-term adaptation strategies and glacier monitoring are critical for ensuring regional water security.

Capt. (Retd.) Anurag Bisen highlighted that melting the Arctic and Antarctic ice will have global impacts on sea level rise, wind circulation, which he said will influence regional and global geopolitics.

Dr. Sulagna Chattopadhyay summarized the discussion and underscored how changes in the Himalayan cryosphere are triggering cascading effects in high-altitude ecosystems. She stressed the urgency of investing in robust cryosphere monitoring, strengthening local adaptation strategies, and strengthening transboundary cooperation for research and policy action.

Dr. Sudheer Kumar Shukla, Head – Think Tank, Mobius Foundation, gave the concluding remarks, emphasizing the importance of safeguarding the glaciers and also extending the vote of thanks to everyone. Dr. Sandip Tanu Mandal, Research Associate, Mobius Foundation, facilitated and coordinated the smooth conduct of the event.

How Design Education Is Shaping the Next Generation of Changemakers

With advancements in artificial intelligence (AI) and robotics decimating clerical and manual jobs across a multitude of industries, a career in design has emerged as an attractive option for students across the world, including India. No wonder, UI and UX designers are among the top 15 fastest growing jobs, as per the World Economic Forums Future of Jobs Report 2025.

JK Lakshmipat University, Jaipur

However, design education is not restricted to UI and UX design. Nor is it limited to the commonly perceived domains of fashion or graphic design. In fact, there have been so much misperceptions around design education that many students often miss out on the opportunities that pursuing a Bachelor of Design (B.Des) programme can offer.

The first misconception is that students need to be from the science stream in class 12 to excel in a design career. “Nothing can be further from the truth. As premier design institutes across the world are adopting an interdisciplinary approach to design education, students from any stream can excel in their design careers provided they have a scientific temper, a sense of inquiry and a bundle of creative energy,” said Professor A. Balasubramaniam, Director, Institute of Design, JK Lakshmipat University.

While it is true that some design institutes require their students to be from the science stream, opportunities are now abounding for students from all streams with the evolution of design curricula and demands of the times.

Secondly, students often tend to assume that a B.Des degree is all about mastering technology tools and excelling in visual perceptions. The reality is far from it. A B.Des degree from institutions that offer interdisciplinary curricula prepares students not only to embark on a path of creative journey, but it also equips them to solve pressing global problems.

Designing Solutions

Without a design thinking perspective, for example, you cannot imagine bridging the digital divide. It is thanks to the ingenious designers that we have affordable devices which have made internet accessible to millions of Indians.

Similarly, can we imagine advancing the sustainable development goals (SDGs) without sustainable packaging or designs that support the use of renewables The answer is a clear “no”.

So, in addressing all complex global problems, be it the issues of inequality, climate change mitigation, or improving the quality of life of the physically challenged or the elderly, the world looks up to the designers to produce innovative solutions.

Students in design institutes should be trained from the beginning to be critical thinkers and versatile so that they can see the big picture and come up with timely and practical solutions to the issues at hand. Training on systems designs can prepare them to take on complex global challenges.

Design students of today are expected to solve complex systemic problems. That is one of the reasons why the Institute of Design at JK Lakshmipat University has adopted a multidisciplinary approach to design education where students can hone not just conventional design skills but can also learn empathy, develop deep sensitivity to human beings and understand their context,” said Dr. Devanuj K. Balkrishan, Professor at JKLU.

Diverse Pathways

For a B.Des student wanting to make a mark in the world, he or she should look beyond conventional design disciplines and explore what contemporary disciplines such as the following can offer: Interdisciplinary Design, Interaction Design, Product Design and Integrated Communication Design.

A B.Des in Interdisciplinary Design, for example, aims to equip graduates with comprehensive skill sets, blending technology with traditional design principles. Interdisciplinary designers of today are adept at handling a wide range of roles with ease — from designing campaigns for advertisements to running startups offering multiple design solutions.

Similarly, the focus of Product Design has expanded so much over the past few years that graduates specialising in this area are now tackling critical social issues – offering solutions for areas without electricity by designing battery operated lamps to providing drinking water to communities with rollable tanks.

Similarly, Interaction Design has advanced beyond User Interface (UI) design to integrate the pencil with the pixel, setting the stage for designers to pioneer immersive ways of people-to-people, people with devices and devices with devices interactions,” Professor Balasubramaniam said.

An Integrated Communication Design approach, on the other hand, encompasses both analogue and digital designs, dealing with a broad range of areas including data visualisation, reporting and writing.

A contemporary curriculum, however, is not enough to make graduates ready to face the challenges of the real world. What they also need is project-based learnings, global exposure, and training in communications and critical thinking,” said Raj Gopal Menon, Professor & Dean, Institute of Design, JK Lakshmipat University.

As the world-renowned thought leader in design Don Norman said, “We need new kinds of Designers, people who can work across disciplines, who understand human beings, business, and technology and the appropriate means of validating claims.”

The PEDIGREE gravy range is meticulously formulated to provide 100% complete and balanced nutrition, ensuring that dogs receive the appropriate amounts of proteins, fats, carbohydrates, vitamins, and minerals in every meal.

Beyond nutritional completeness, gravy offers several advantages that are sometimes overlooked. Its higher moisture content aids in maintaining proper hydration, crucial for overall health. The rich aroma and texture make wet food more appealing, especially for picky eaters. The soft consistency is gentle on the digestive system, beneficial for dogs with certain medical conditions.

The PEDIGREE gravy range, suitable for puppies and adult dogs, is made with real chicken in gravy and is a rich source of high-quality protein, calcium, dietary fiber, Omega 6, and Zinc-supporting holistic health and everyday vitality.

By integrating these functional benefits with the emotional narrative of love and care, the campaign aims to educate pet parents on making informed dietary choices that enhance their pets’ health and happiness.

Ayesha Huda, Chief Marketing Officer, MARS Petcare India, commented: “We launched this campaign to celebrate the unconditional love between pets and their parents and to highlight the PEDIGREE gravy’s range as a meaningful expression of that love through complete and balanced nutrition. Our gravy not only offers delicious taste but also supports better hydration, improved digestion, and overall well-being for dogs.”

She further added ” Recent surveys indicate that over 60% of Gen Z and millennial pet parents in India view their pets as family and are actively seeking better nutrition options. Many are realizing that home-cooked food alone may not meet the specific nutritional needs of dogs, particularly concerning calorie conversion and complete nourishment. With Bhumi as a partner for the campaign we’re connecting emotionally while also educating pet parents on how simple choices like incorporating gravy food can significantly enhance their pet’s health. This initiative is not just about growing our brand-it’s about advancing the category by making nutrition more accessible, relatable, and heartfelt.”

India’s pet parenting landscape is undergoing a significant transformation. Pets are now considered integral family members, leading to a heightened focus on their health and nutrition. This shift underscores the importance of providing diets that are not only lovingly prepared but also nutritionally comprehensive.

Bhumi Pednekar shared, “My partnership with the PEDIGREE brand in India is a natural extension of the deep love I have for my pet. PEDIGREE is a legacy brand committed to delivering 100% complete and balanced nutrition, an intention I wholeheartedly support. Our campaign celebrates the special bond we share with our pets and highlights how we can express our love in a sweet and playful way. I couldn’t help but say ‘I love you’ to both Pedigree and my pet in the same breath. PEDIGREE’s wet food range is the perfect choice for my pet because it meets its nutritional needs and has an irresistible taste.”

The campaign, produced by Kulfi Collective, extends beyond digital platforms through interactive installations in dog-friendly parks and collaborations with key regional influencers, ensuring widespread reach and cultural resonance. With ‘I Pouch You’, The PEDIGREE brand in India combines emotional storytelling with product education, reinforcing the message that feeding better is not just a choice-it’s an act of love.

NFO alert: Invest in a growing India’s corporate leaders with Bajaj Finserv Nifty 50 Index Fund

The volatility in the stock market has caused jitters among investors. However, investment opportunities can often be found even in seemingly unfavourable times.

Bajaj Finserv AMC has launched the Bajaj Finserv Nifty 50 Index Fund

The latest market correction, for instance, presents an opportunity to invest in large cap companies. As per data from NSE, the Nifty 50 Index as on February 28, 2025, was trading below its average historical* valuations, putting it in a favourable position for long-term investment. *Past performance may or may not be sustained in the future.

Against this backdrop, Bajaj Finserv AMC has launched the Bajaj Finserv Nifty 50 Index Fund. The New Fund Offer period began on April 25, 2025, and is on till May 9, 2025. This article tells you more about why this may be an opportune moment to invest in a growing India’s corporate giants.

What is a Nifty 50 Index Fund

An index fund is a passively managed mutual fund that replicates the portfolio of a stock market index. The fund’s portfolio comprises the same stocks in the same weightage as the benchmark and the fund seeks to mirror the performance of that index, subject to tracking error.

The Nifty 50 Index Fund comprises the companies top 50 companies in terms of market capitalisation listed on the National Stock Exchange. Typically, these are industry leaders with strong a market presence, healthy balance sheets and a track record* of sustainable growth. A Nifty 50 Index Fund gives investors a convenient way to invest in these companies without having to select individual stocks. Some of its advantages include:

  • Diversification: Exposure across multiple sectors reduces reliance on any single company’s performance.

  • Lower costs: Index funds generally have lower expense ratios compared to actively managed funds.

  • Market-aligned performance: The Nifty 50 has historically* delivered relatively stable returns over extended periods, making it a suitable option for those seeking long-term wealth creation with lower volatility.

*Past performance may or may not be sustained in the future.

Why invest in a Nifty 50 Index Fund now

India’s economy is on an upward trajectory, and its large corporations have been significant contributors to this growth. India’s economy became the fifth largest in the word in 2023, and is projected to reach No. 3 by 2030, following only the United States and China*.

*Source: Bloomberg, IMF, World Bank 2030 estimates from CEBR (The Centre for Economics and Business Research)

Moreover, the current market environment has created an opportunity for long-term investments in the large cap space. Data indicates that the index is currently trading at lower-than-average Price-to-Earnings (P/E) and Price-to-Book (P/B) ratios. For instance, the Nifty 50 trailing P/E was at 19.67 as of Feb 28th, 2025, well below the historical average of 24.81, as per data from NSE India. The Nifty trailing P/B, similarly, was at 3.29, against a historical average of 3.69. In simpler terms, this means that valuations for the Nifty 50 companies are below historical averages.

*Past performance may or may not be sustained in the future.

What should investors do

If this trend plays out, large caps could offer better risk-reward compared to mid and small caps in the near term. Investors may consider rebalancing their portfolio accordingly. However, market conditions and valuations should always be assessed before making investment decisions.

Stock markets go through cycles, and after a period of correction, indices often recover*.

Undervalued stocks – those that are trading at a price lower than their intrinsic value – offer growth potential because investors get the opportunity to buy them at favourable prices and potentially make gains when if rest of the market recognises their true potential.

The recent correction has created also a widening gap between Nifty 50 earnings and valuations. This valuation gap, given the fundamental qualities of the Nifty 50’s companies and their market positions, positions the index favourably for potential future growth.

*Past performance may or may not be sustained in the future.

Bajaj Finserv Nifty 50 Index Fund

For those looking to gain exposure to the Nifty 50, a well-structured index fund can provide a convenient and cost-effective way to participate in the market. The upcoming Bajaj Finserv Nifty 50 Index Fund can be one such avenue. Here are some of its key features:

  • Relatively lower expense ratio than actively managed funds.

  • Aims to closely replicate the performance of the Nifty 50 with minimal tracking difference.

  • No fund manager bias and minimal intervention.

  • Focus on delivering the potential for long-term wealth creation through a disciplined passive investment strategy.

During the ongoing NFO period (ending on May 9, 2025), units will be available at a face value of Rs. 10. Thereon, when the fund reopens for subscription, units will be available at the applicable Net Asset Value. Both lumpsum and Systematic Investment Plan options are available. On World Pilots’ Day, Sky One Group Chairman Jaideep Mirchandani Calls for Stronger Domestic Pilot Training Infrastructure to Meet Soaring Demand

It was in 2014 that the International Federation of Air Line Pilots Associations (IFALPA) officially designated April 26th as World Pilots’ Day, acknowledging the essential role pilots play in sustaining global aviation. Since then, the day has been observed annually to honour their contribution in connecting people and ensuring safe air travel.

Jaideep Mirchandani, Group Chairman Sky One

Even in today’s tech-driven era, with ongoing advances in autonomous flight research, pilots remain at the heart of flight operations and are irreplaceable. With the aviation sector expanding rapidly, the global demand for trained pilots continues to rise. According to Boeing’s ‘Pilot and Technician Outlook 2024-2043,’ 6,74,000 new pilots will be needed over the next 20 years to operate and maintain the global commercial fleet.

The report highlights strong demand in the Asia-Pacific region, particularly in countries like India, where civil aviation is growing steadily. Recently, Civil Aviation Minister K. Rammohan Naidu noted that India will require around 30,000 pilots over the next 15 to 20 years, considering the scale of aircraft orders placed by Indian airlines.

Official data shows that the country currently has about 6,000 to 7,000 active pilots, a number that must rise substantially to meet future needs. The government is introducing several measures to address this, and according to Jaideep Mirchandani, Group Chairman of Sky One, India should now set its targets on becoming a global hub for pilot training.

In 2023, India issued a record 1,622 Commercial Pilot Licenses (CPLs), though the number dropped to 1,342 in 2024. Mr. Mirchandani stresses the importance of maintaining momentum through timely policy updates. “The DGCA’s new rating system for Flying Training Organisations (FTOs) is a step in the right direction, as it promotes higher training standards. Strengthening the domestic training infrastructure and developing dedicated airports for cargo and pilot training can have a lasting impact,” he says.

He also points to the need for cadet programmes structured around models used in Western countries, where training is often subsidised or partially funded. “The cost of pilot training is shaped by multiple factors, including rising aviation fuel prices, the use of imported simulators and spare parts and the need for experienced instructors, many of whom are brought in from abroad. Addressing these challenges requires effective coordination between the Ministry of Civil Aviation, airlines, training institutes and other key players,” he explains.

Mr. Mirchandani adds that introducing financial support mechanisms, such as subsidised loans or scholarships, can ease the burden for aspiring pilots. “Encouraging airlines to train and employ local talent not only helps fill the current gap but also contributes to the broader economy through job creation and reduced dependence on foreign-trained pilots,” he concludes.

“Eddie is not just a product genius-hes a visionary who understands how to turn complex data into beautiful user experiences that delight and engage,” said Brett Rosin, CEO of Mobile Global Esports.“With Curve10 joining our ecosystem and Eddie stepping in as interim CTO, we believe MGAM now has the horsepower to deliver truly next-generation platforms that span gaming, media, and social connectivity.”

“Ive spent my career advising companies at the edge of technology and user engagement-and Im rarely surprised,” said Steve Berman, COO of Mobile Global Esports. “But what Eddie Dombrower and Curve10 bring to the table is something different. Its not just innovative-its category-defining. Their ability to blend vision, precision, and execution will fundamentally elevate MGAMs roadmap and everything were building.”

The first product to benefit from this partnership is Dominus, a fantasy baseball platform that takes fans beyond traditional gameplay and into the decision-makers chair. Using real MLB data processed through a proprietary linear weights system, Dominus converts game events into fully simulated 9-inning box scores, allowing a trustworthy day-to-day results-oriented platform. This next-gen engine gives users a front office perspective, merging real-world stats with strategic, customizable simulations to deliver a fully immersive experience.

“Dominus is a new kind of fantasy-more realistic, strategic, and way more personal,” said Dombrower. “But thats just the beginning. What were building at MGAM touches much more than fantasy sports.”

In addition to leading Dominus and other core product initiatives, Dombrower is now spearheading the design of a groundbreaking AI-driven social product that builds on his experience at Match.com, while radically reimagining how people connect and form relationships in a post-app world. MGAM hints that this product will be announced in the coming months-and is expected to flip the traditional dating and digital connection model on its head.

“The next generation of social technology isnt about swiping-its about understanding people as they really are,”Dombrower added. “Were fusing AI, behavioral data, and user empowerment to create something the market hasnt seen before. Stay tuned.”

The Dominus platform is slated for rollout in mid-2025. MGAM will also explore licensing, white-label partnerships, and brand extensions across sports and entertainment vertically. With Curve10 now part of the MGAM ecosystem, we believe the Company is positioned to move from concept to execution quickly, unlocking new forms of monetization, fan engagement, and digital ownership.

“Its truly an exciting time for us. Were building a company around product, process, and people, a major piece of the puzzle in making products come to life,”Rosin added.
