The Easiest Way to Check Your Credit Score Before Applying for a Loan

Before applying for a loan on a loan app, individuals must understand their eligibility. One very simple way to do this is by checking the credit score. This three-digit number gives lenders insight into a borrower’s creditworthiness.

It thus plays a key role in determining loan eligibility and terms for potential borrowers. A good credit score may often lead to lower interest rates and quicker approvals when applicants meet other criteria like income, age, and more.

Regularly monitoring one’s score also helps in identifying and correcting any errors in the credit report. The OneScore App makes it easy for consumers to track and improve their credit scores.

Understanding Credit Scores

A credit score is a three-digit number that reflects an individuals creditworthiness. It helps lenders evaluate how likely a borrower is to repay borrowed money on time. Credit scores range from 300 to 900 and are calculated using several factors, such as:

  • Payment History and Utilisation of Credit

  • Total Debt

  • Length of Credit History

  • Types of Credit Availed

  • Recent Credit Activity

RBI– Approved Credit Score Providers

India has four credit bureaus authorised by the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) to operate as Credit Information Companies. While they all provide credit scores ranging from 300 to 900, each has its own features and specialisations:

1. TransUnion CIBIL

  • One of the earliest and most widely used credit bureaus in India

  • Offers credit reports and CIBIL scores for individuals

  • Provides lenders with CIBIL Rank and Company Credit Reports for evaluating businesses

  • Also supports portfolio analysis and market insight services

2. Equifax

  • Licensed to operate in India since 2010

  • Uses the standard credit score range of 300 to 900

  • Offers additional services like fraud detection tools, risk assessments, and portfolio tracking

  • Supports financial institutions with industry-specific analytics

3. Experian

  • A global credit bureau that began operating in India in 2010

  • Assign scores between 300 and 900 to individuals

  • Provides services such as customer targeting, debt recovery, data insights, and consumer engagement strategies

  • Works with both individuals and businesses

4. CRIF High Mark

  • Started in India in 2007 and became a licensed credit bureau in 2010

  • Uses the 300-900 score scale, with 720+ considered good and 640 or below as poor

  • Offers portfolio management, credit alerts, and location-based analytics for businesses

  • Serves banks, NBFCs, and microfinance institutions

All four agencies generate credit reports and scores that can be used by both individuals and lenders to assess creditworthiness. While the score range is uniform, the reporting format, additional services, and data insights may vary across each bureau.

Pristyn Care Turns its First Hospital Profitable in Less than 2 Months

Pristyn Care has turned its first hospital in South Delhi profitable in less than two months, challenging long-standing norms in the healthcare space where most hospitals typically take 12-24 months to break even.

The hospital has achieved high double-digit profitability within weeks of launch

The hospital has achieved high double-digit profitability within weeks of launch. Even with this strong momentum, it still has capacity to accommodate 30% more patient inflow, offering significant headroom for growth while maintaining high standards of care.

Establishing its own hospital infrastructure in the capital is helping the company go deeper into patient care and ensure tighter control over the end-to-end patient journey. This greater control is enabling consistent delivery, stricter adherence to safety protocols, and a more integrated care experience for every patient.

Unlike most healthcare institutions where demand is doctor-driven, Pristyn Care has been generating its own patient flow – even while operating out of partner hospital infrastructure. With its own setup now live, the company has already seen significant impact – including a 10+ point improvement in its Net Promoter Score (NPS), placing it among the highest-rated healthcare providers in terms of patient satisfaction.

“This milestone is a reflection of the trust patients place in us. With our own hospital, we’re able to deliver more consistent, safer, and compassionate care – every single day. We are also making major announcements in the coming weeks, as we continue our push into hospital infrastructure and scale a new model of surgical care in India,” said Dr. Vaibhav Kapoor, Co-founder, Pristyn Care.

A major driver behind this progress is Pristyn Care’s proprietary technology platform, designed to handle doctor scheduling, patient coordination, and surgical journey optimization. This tech-led approach is helping streamline operations and elevate the patient experience across touchpoints.

“In healthcare, trust is everything. By managing the full care continuum ourselves, we’re earning that trust one patient at a time,” said Harsimarbir Singh, Co‒founder, Pristyn Care.

Today, more than 60% of Pristyn Care’s patient inflow is organic, reflecting strong brand equity and patient trust. Building on this momentum, the company plans to launch 50 hospitals across India in the next three years, with upcoming launches in Mumbai, Bangalore, Hyderabad, Pune, Chennai, Ahmedabad, Patna, Chandigarh, and Coimbatore, among others.

Ahmedabad University Wins Top Honour at Times Higher Education Awards Asia 2025

Ahmedabad University has been awarded Leadership and Management Team of the Year at the Times Higher Education Awards Asia 2025, its highest award at the prestigious annual ceremony held in Macao on April 22, 2025.

https://www.newsvoir.com/images/article/image1/31780_Ahmedabad_University.jpg

The award recognises the transformation of Ahmedabad University into a leading research-intensive and innovative institution

In a higher education landscape often dominated by conventions, Ahmedabad University has charted its own path. Founded in 2009 through the incorporation of a group of colleges, the University set out to build a distinctive research university rooted in the values of liberal arts education, where interdisciplinarity, research thinking, and practice orientation shape every aspect of the academic experience.

That bold vision, backed by institutional courage and collective leadership, has now been recognised on one of Asia’s most respected academic stages.

More than 500 entries were submitted for the seventh edition of the awards, with 80 finalists shortlisted from 16 countries and territories. In Ahmedabad, the judges saw a university that had transformed itself into a leading player in India’s research and innovation system. They praised the University for taking “decisive, bold and imaginative action” and described its transformation as a result of leadership working together to achieve transformational change in the space of a few years, to the benefit of the university and its local and national context.”

“Ahmedabad University has dared to reimagine the classroom and the future of education with a deep sense of purpose anchored in the continuous progress of self and society. It’s a testimony to collective action and a single-minded pursuit of excellence,” said Professor Pankaj Chandra, Vice Chancellor.

The transformation at Ahmedabad, a State Private University in Gujarat, has been systemic and deliberate. Key decisions included increasing faculty appointments to improve the student-to-faculty ratio significantly. The University also implemented major reforms to support research by investing in major equipment and laboratories, increasing internal research funding, and establishing a six-year tenure system (followed globally but by just a handful of top institutions in India) in pursuit of research excellence. This led to attracting and retain top academic talent from around the world.

These academic reforms were matched with a strong commitment to equity and access, with focused efforts to improve student diversity by giving special weight to applicants from disadvantaged and vernacular language backgrounds. Need-blind admission became a strong philosophical positioning for the University. Faculty and student autonomy were expanded through participatory governance, while a bold reimagining of physical infrastructure led to the creation of a sustainable, inclusive campus.

Ahmedabad University’s pedagogy blends academic rigour with societal relevance. Signature academic initiatives such as the Foundation Programme (its common core for all programmes), Independent Study Period, and a flexible, open curriculum across schools are designed to prepare students not just for careers, but for thoughtful, impactful lives. Its students regularly get admission to the top institutions globally, undertake startups, and join some of the best Indian companies.

This honour builds on previous recognitions, including being named a Highly Commended University for Teaching and Learning Strategy of the Year at THE Awards Asia 2023, winning the AACSB Innovations That Inspire Award for its Foundation Programme, and earning a 5-Star Rating in the Gujarat State Institutional Rating Framework (GSIRF) 2023-24. Gujarat Government recognised Ahmedabad as a Centre of Excellence, a recognition given to seven institutions of Gujarat.

This award is not merely a milestone. It is a marker of belief – in building institutions for purpose and lasting impact.

Rhenus Group Strengthens LATAM Region as Blu Logistics Rebrands to Rhenus Logistics

The Rhenus Group, a global logistics solutions provider, has announced the official rebranding of Blu Logistics LATAM to Rhenus Logistics, following its acquisition in 2023. The rebranding will enhance the Groups footprint and operational integration across Latin America, as BLU Logistics LATAM will now commercially operate under the Rhenus Logistics name in Argentina, Colombia, Ecuador, Mexico, Paraguay, and Uruguay. This transition complements and strengthens Rhenus existing operations in Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, and Mexico, while further expanding its service portfolio with a focus on Air & Ocean and warehousing solutions. The unified brand identity of the two family-owned companies will offer customers greater consistency, connectivity and access to the Groups global standards, capabilities, and service portfolio. Rhenus expertise in supporting the India-LATAM trade lane will also play a pivotal role in this milestone.

The rebrand comes amid a period of significant growth across the region. In 2024, the combined operations of Rhenus Logistics LATAM and BLU Logistics LATAM handled over 210,000 TEUs in full container load (FCL) shipments, a 16.67% increase compared to the 180,000 TEUs managed by BLU Logistics LATAM alone in 2023. As a result of its strong positioning and ranking in ocean freight, particularly on the Far East Asia to LATAM trade lane, Rhenus Logistics is recognized as a leading freight forwarder in the region. To continue supporting customer and market demands, the company has expanded its regional footprint with new office openings. Most recently, in March, Rhenus Brazil inaugurated a new branch in Belo Horizonte, strengthening its presence in key logistics hubs throughout the country. LATAMs growing relevance in global trade is evident through increasing cargo volumes from Asia, India, Europe, and the United States.

“For the Rhenus Group, this rebranding marks a new era in Latin America and reinforces our long-term commitment to the region,” said Tobias Bartz, CEO of the Rhenus Group. “It reflects both our local success and our global ambition. Weve seen remarkable growth and continue to identify strong opportunities across the region. This rebranding connects the shared identity of two family-owned companies unifying as one. It strengthens our footprint in Latin America and offers our customers greater efficiency, visibility, and the opportunity to grow their business with us, now fully integrated into our global network, portfolio of services and capabilities.”

As India strengthens its role as a global manufacturing and export hub, and Latin America continues to thrive as a source of agriculture, energy and raw materials, trade potential between the regions is accelerating. The India-Latin America trade lane is evolving rapidly, driven by growing demand and sectoral synergies, highlighting the strategic relevance of the companys expanded presence in Latin America to support key trade flows with India.

“The ongoing collaboration through BRICS – with Brazil and India cooperating – and several free trade agreements between India and various Latin American countries are playing a pivotal role in strengthening this partnership,” said Bhaswar Arya, Joint Managing Director of Rhenus India. “These frameworks are enhancing bilateral engagement, easing market access and creating fertile ground for deeper economic cooperation. We see immense potential across diverse sectors such as pharmaceuticals, automotive, agro-commodities, textiles and technology. Moreover, improved ocean and air connectivity, alongside policy-driven efforts from both regions, is accelerating the momentum of trade.”

With deep roots in both regions and a growing network of integrated services, Rhenus is uniquely positioned to support customers across key India-Latin America trade corridors. As the company continues to expand its global footprint, it remains focused on delivering efficient, customer-centric solutions that unlock new value and drive long-term growth across continents.

About Rhenus
The Rhenus Group is one of the leading logistics specialists with global business operations and annual turnover amounting to EUR 8.2 billion. 41,000 employees work at 1,330 business sites in more than 70 countries and develop innovative solutions along the complete supply chain. In First-of-its-kind Procedure in Mumbai Doctors Implant Leadless Pacemaker through the Neck in 92-Year-Old Woman

Elizabeth Fijardo, a 92-year-old retired school teacher, underwent a groundbreaking procedure at SL Raheja Hospital, Mahim – A Fortis Associate, when she received a leadless pacemaker, a minimally invasive device that would help regulate her heart rhythm, through her neck vein. This procedure, the first of its kind in Mumbai, offered a safer and more efficient method for pacemaker implantation, and was modified due to anatomical issues. What made this surgery even more remarkable was that the Dr Haresh Mehta, Director-Interventional & Structural Cardiology, SL Raheja Hospital, Mahim – A Fortis Associate, who performed the procedure was once her student! He was accompanied by Interventional Cardiologists Dr Kayan Siodia and Dr Raghav Nagpal.

Recalling how it all started, Wilfred Fijardo, the patient’s son said, “My mother started experiencing breathlessness, felt dizzy and had difficulty walking. We consulted the doctor on March 18; he prescribed medication for a month and asked us to follow-up after finishing the course. However, the very next morning my mother woke up at 4 am gasping for breath and we took her to the hospital. The doctors told us she needed a pacemaker to regulate her heart’s rhythm, and the surgery was conducted on March 23. She opted for a leadless pacemaker as she was worried about the healing time associated with traditional pacemakers.”

Talking about the technology behind a leadless pacemaker, Dr Raghav Nagpal and Dr. Kayan Siodia, Consultant Interventional Cardiologists, SL Raheja Hospital, Mahim-A Fortis Associate added, “A leadless pacemaker does not require the traditional leads (wires) to be implanted into the heart. Unlike conventional pacemakers, which consist of a small pulse generator implanted under the skin with one or more leads connected to the heart, a leadless pacemaker is a compact device that is directly implanted into the heart. The pacemaker is positioned directly in the right ventricle, where it delivers electrical impulses to regulate the hearts rhythm. The procedure requires no incision in the chest or under the skin, only a small puncture in the groin or neck. The pacemaker that was inserted in the patient is a small tube-like device measuring only 2 inches (a conventional pacemaker would measure 3 X 2 inches), making it ideal for older patients with smaller bodies or those who require less invasive solutions.”

Describing the procedure, Dr Haresh Mehta, Director-Interventional & Structural Cardiology, SL Raheja Hospital, Mahim – A Fortis Associate said, “We did an ECG, which revealed a very slow heart rhythm, indicating a complete heart block, which typically requires a pacemaker. We went for a leadless pacemaker in this case as the patient was small-built, and her heart was small in size. The leadless pacemaker is small and compact and is implanted directly into the heart without the need for external leads, which makes it ideal for patients with smaller hearts or limited space in the chest. The veins in her leg were tortuous (curvy), and due to anatomical constraints of the right atrium, we used the jugular vein instead, leading to a successful procedure with minimal disruption. This is a very rare procedure, especially in India.”

“As we see in older patients, leadless pacemakers, which are directly implanted into the heart, offer a less invasive solution. However, not all patients are candidates for leadless pacemakers, and a thorough evaluation by a Cardiologist is necessary to determine the best option. We did a Doppler Test to determine if Elizabeth was the right candidate for a leadless pacemaker,”Dr Mehta added.

Elizabeth has made a full recovery, and now her doting children are cherishing every moment with her. What makes this even more special is that one of her former students, whose life she has shaped through her wisdom and teachings in English and History, ended up saving her life, bringing their journey full circle in a powerful and meaningful way.
