Padma Shri Awardee Anand Kumar Addresses Students at Galgotias University, Speaks on Persistence and Staying the Course

Technological shifts are opening up new possibilities and are already bringing efficiencies across several areas. At the same time, they are gradually changing how work is organised and carried out, prompting students to think differently about how they prepare for their careers. Some of the earlier reference points such as clear, linear career paths are evolving, even as new opportunities continue to emerge. The interaction with Padma Shri awardee Anand Kumar unfolded within this broader setting, bringing the focus to what it takes to build capability over time.

Anand Kumar inspires students at Galgotias University, emphasising persistence as a path to success

Shri Anand Kumar delivered an inspiring talk to students across programmes, focusing on persistence and the ability to work through difficulties. Drawing from his work with Super 30, he spoke about the importance of working through a concept, returning to fundamentals, and allowing ideas the time and efforts they need to fructify. He shared four mantras with students to help them succeed, a strong sense of intent and the drive to make a difference, maintaining a positive outlook in any situation, tireless effort and hard work, and the patience to stay the course, with an emphasis on sustained effort and inner drive even when progress feels slow.

He also spoke about phases of difficulty in his own journey, sharing that when one begins to do well, there can be detractors who question intent or attempt to damage reputation. He recalled a time when negative media coverage and legal challenges left him uncertain about continuing. During that phase, he turned to his mentor with the intention of stepping away from his work with Super 30. His mentor asked him a simple question, whether he was working for fame or for the students whose lives he was trying to change. That question helped him return to the core purpose of his work. He continued with renewed focus, allowing time and effort to speak for themselves.

The interaction then moved into a discussion with student representatives, bringing the conversation closer to concerns around career choices, academic pressure, and the constant pull of comparison.

The emphasis remained on staying motivated over longer periods, committing to a direction, and allowing clarity to build gradually through sustained work. Students were encouraged to remain patient with themselves and to not lose focus even in the face of adversities.

Dr. Dhruv Galgotia, Chief Executive Officer, Galgotias University, said, “Offering students avenues to interact with thought leaders and change makers of our times is important, especially in a phase where deep transitions are underway and the way work and careers evolve is changing steadily. What Shri Anand Kumar has built through his work with students from underprivileged backgrounds reflects a sense of purpose and commitment that is deeply relevant in today’s context, and it is a mission that aligns closely with what we seek to do at Galgotias University.”

Students were motivated to reflect on their own journeys through both the talk and the discussion that followed, engaging closely with the ideas shared around persistence, effort, and staying committed over time. The interaction left them with a clearer sense of what it takes to continue with focus and discipline.

During the visit, Shri Anand Kumar also appreciated the University’s infrastructure and the learning environment, encouraging students to make full use of the opportunities and facilities available to them, and to invest that advantage in strengthening their understanding and preparing themselves for what lies ahead. He also expressed his intent to return for future interactions with students.

World Animal Protection Calls for End to Elephant Rides Everywhere on Occasion of Save The Elephant Day

World Animal Protection organized a protest event at Patrika Gate in Jaipur today to raise concerns about the continued mistreatment of captive elephants in Amer Fort and Haathi Gaon, Jaipur. A large number of people and volunteers participated in the event and engaged with the public to highlight the suffering of these elephants. During the event, many individuals took a pledge not to ride elephants during their travels and called on the Government of Rajasthan to end elephant rides.

Save The Elephant Day protest by World Animal Protection at Patrika Gate in Jaipur on 16 April 2026 Photo credit: World Animal Protection

The event was organised in the wake of the death of a 70-year-old elephant named Chanchal in February 2026, who had been used in a photoshoot where she was painted pink by photographer Julia Buruleva. Although her death is believed to be unrelated to the photography event. Nonetheless, the shooting event raised major questions on ethics surrounding the treatment of animals, especially wild animals like elephants, that suffer from their incarceration in captivity.

“For years we have seen the unfortunate scene of captive elephants being paraded as props in Amer Fort for tourists, including foreign tourists, to the detriment of their health and welfare and it is high time this practice stopped,” says Gajender Kumar Sharma, Country Director, World Animal Protection in India. Numerous studies have repeatedly shown that the status quo on Amer Fort elephants is untenable and the need is imminent for them to be retired from the daily rides and given a satisfactory retirement in a wildlife friendly sanctuary for the rest of their lives.

Studies by Animal Welfare Board of India and Project Elephant of Ministry of Environment And Forests have shown the Amer Fort elephants show major distress due to their captive nature and that the way forward is by ending the elephant rides in Jaipur, in Amer Fort, Haathi Gaon and other venues where they still take place. In the wake of the photoshoot that has made news all over, it is amply clear and self evident that the elephant being painted with a scantily clad model woman on top was hardly the epitome or symbol of Indian culture that has respected the elephant with the status of National Heritage Animal of India.

Elephants are wild animals, who live sociably in the wild and display many human emotions like love, fear, bonding, sadness and mourning and they are deprived of these traits in captivity. Moreover the continued illegal trade in live elephants from certain parts of India to fuel the captive elephant industry in places like Jaipur give cause for concern for elephant conservation in the wild. We also witness retrogressive practices like elephant safaris in Kaziranga National Park in Assa and Corbett Tiger Reserve in Uttarakhand. “Elephant rides across India must be brought to an end, and tourism activities involving captive elephants including those involving international visitors/tourists need to be strictly regulated. World Animal Protection urges the Government of Rajasthan, the Ministry of Environment and Forests, and Project Elephant to take immediate action, including establishing a clear timeline for the retirement of elephants currently used for rides in Jaipur and across the country,” says Gajender Kumar Sharma, Country Director, World Animal Protection in India.

The demonstration in Jaipur, with active participation from volunteers and local residents alongside World Animal Protection staff, reflects a growing awareness that wild animals belong in the wild. Elephants are not entertainers, nor are they props for photographs in captive settings. Elephants deserve to live free. Wildlife belongs in the wild.

Green Financing Workshop Under EU Switch Asia – Green Threads Project Organised in Panipat with Young Entrepreneurs Society (YES)

A focused Green Financing Workshop was successfully conducted today in Panipat under the EU Switch Asia – Green Threads Project, in collaboration with the Young Entrepreneurs Society (YES), Panipat, which represents a strong network of 152 MSMEs and exporters from the textile and home furnishing sector.

FMC, YES leaders & dignitaries unite to drive Panipat MSMEs towards global sustainability growth

The workshop aimed at building awareness and facilitating access to green financing solutions, while also sensitizing MSMEs on evolving sustainability requirements in global markets, particularly the European Union.

The session was organised by the Foundation for MSME Clusters (FMC) along with its consortium partners Copenhagen Business School and SIDBI, bringing together key stakeholders including representatives from the Bureau of Energy Efficiency (BEE), Small Industries Development Bank of India (SIDBI), and the Haryana MSME Department.

The event opened with remarks from Mr. Rajat Grover, President, YES, who emphasised the urgency for MSMEs to align with global sustainability norms.

A significant focus of the session was on SIDBI’s green financing products, including SPICE, EDGE, Working Capital, Machinery Loans, Sthapan, and EV financing, which are designed to support MSMEs in adopting sustainable practices. Participants were also introduced to the BEE ADEETIE Scheme, which promotes energy efficiency investments.

In addition, officials from the Haryana Government shared insights on various state-level support mechanisms under the Haryana Enterprise & Employment Policy (HEEP), including Freight Assistance, Market Development Assistance (MDA), Testing Equipment support, Quality Certification, Stamp Duty reimbursement, and Electricity Duty exemption. The session also covered benefits under the Haryana Textile Policy and the PADMA Scheme for pollution abatement in textile dyeing units.

As a key highlight of the workshop, Sustainable Production Manuals specifically developed for the Panipat Textile Recycling Cluster were officially launched. In addition, a Digital Product Passport (DPP) pilot programme was also launched, with support from Green Story, to enhance data readiness and traceability of textile waste within the Panipat cluster.

The workshop also linked these financial and policy interventions with upcoming European Union regulations, including the Ecodesign for Sustainable Products Regulation (ESPR), Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR), and Waste Shipment Regulation (WSR). Participants were sensitized on the growing importance of traceability, circularity, and compliance, including emerging requirements such as the Digital Product Passport (DPP).

Industry leaders from the Young Entrepreneurs Society (YES), including Mr. Rajat Grover, President, and Mr. Raman Chhabra, Ex-President along with YES Members, were present and expressed strong commitment towards enabling Panipat’s MSMEs to transition towards sustainable and globally competitive business practices.

Dignitaries Present

The workshop was graced by the presence of:

  • Mr P. Shyam Sundar, Director, Bureau of Energy Efficiency (BEE)

  • Mr Vikas Jangra, Joint Director, Haryana MSME Department

  • Ms Sonica Chabra, Assistant General Manager, Small Industries Development Bank of India (SIDBI)

  • Mr Peter Lund Thomsen, Professor, Copenhagen Business School, Denmark

  • Ms Uzma, Assistant Professor, Copenhagen Business School, Denmark

  • Ms Devyani Hari, Senior Director, Center for Responsible Business

Their participation underscored the strong institutional support available for MSMEs in their transition towards sustainable and compliant business practices.

The workshop witnessed active participation, with MSMEs showing keen interest in accessing financing support, undertaking energy efficiency improvements, and aligning with global sustainability standards.

The event concluded with a vote of thanks by Mr. Abhishek Naga, Deputy General Manager (FMC), who appreciated the active participation and reaffirmed FMC’s commitment to supporting the textile ecosystem on its sustainability and compliance journey.

The Green Threads Project, supported by the EU SWITCH-Asia Programme, aims to accelerate the transition of India’s textile and apparel sector toward more sustainable, circular, and resource-efficient production practices. As global markets—especially the European Union—tighten sustainability regulations, MSMEs face rising pressure to demonstrate compliance, transparency, and environmental responsibility across their supply chains.

The project focuses on capacity building, policy dialogue, awareness creation, and technical support for MSMEs to help them:

  • Understand upcoming EU regulations such as ESPR, DPPs, and WSR

  • Improve circularity practices, waste management, and product design

  • Strengthen competitiveness in global markets

  • Build long-term resilience through sustainable business models

The Foundation for MSME Clusters (FMC) is implementing the project in India to ensure that MSME clusters—especially in textile hubs like Panipat and Amroha—are not left behind in the global shift toward greener manufacturing. FMC’s involvement reflects its long-standing commitment to helping MSMEs adopt better practices, access new opportunities, and remain globally competitive.

The VF MPV 7 joins the VF 6 and the VF 7 in VinFast India’s growing product lineup. Locally assembled at VinFast’s factory in Thoothukudi, Tamil Nadu, the vehicles are produced in India, for India.

Alongside expanding its product range, VinFast is also accelerating the development of its retail and service network across India. After reaching 35 showrooms by the end of 2025 and recently inaugurating its 50th facility, the company aims to expand its network to 75 showrooms nationwide by the end of 2026, with a focus on growing beyond major metros into cities and towns across the country.

On the service side, VinFast has partnered with various brands and established service partners to set up Extended Service Workshops nationwide. These workshops operate alongside the VinFast dealership network and ensure that wherever customers are, support is close by. By the end of 2026, the number of workshops will reach more than 230 across India.

In parallel, VinFast is rolling out a range of initiatives, including extending its free EV charging programme across the V-Green network through March 31, 2029 for all customers; introducing the “Trade Gas For Electric” programme with attractive incentives, financing packages and flexible loan options; and implementing a Value Assured buyback programme of up to 75% to help safeguard long-term asset value. These efforts are designed to support consumers in transitioning to electric mobility, contributing to the acceleration of transport electrification and India’s emission reduction goals.

Unbound Raises INR 8 Crore from Fireside Ventures to Launch India's First "Zero-Step Self-Care" Brand for Men in Motion

  • The brand reimagines grooming through intelligent, multi-functional formulations designed for modern, active lifestyles

  • The first wave of the Unbound Brotherhood is already forming at unbound-lifestyle.com

Unbound is entering India’s rapidly evolving men’s personal care market with a philosophy that challenges how the category has traditionally been built. The brand has raised INR 8 crore in funding, led by Fireside Ventures, as it gears up to launch its first range of products across skin, hair, and body care.

At the core of Unbound lies the idea of Zero-Step Self-Care. Instead of encouraging layered routines or single-problem solutions, the brand focuses on engineering high-performance formulations that combine multiple functions into one seamless experience. The approach is rooted in simplifying grooming without compromising on efficacy, making it more intuitive and time-efficient for modern consumers.

India’s men’s personal care market has largely been shaped by basic hygiene offerings or adapted versions of broader beauty products. However, evolving lifestyles are beginning to shift this narrative. A new generation of men is increasingly engaging with fitness, outdoor activity, and high-performance routines, creating a demand for products that are not just functional but also adaptive.

Unbound is being built for a life in motion, with a product philosophy centred on multi-functional care that addresses everyday stressors like sun exposure, sweat, pollution, and hard water. Through consolidated, performance-driven formulations enriched with premium ingredients, the brand aims to simplify men’s self-care into a streamlined, high-impact routine. Designed specifically for men’s unique needs—such as higher sebum production, thicker skin, and greater environmental exposure—it delivers targeted and effective care.

Speaking about the brand, Kanika Mittal, Co-Founder and CEO of Unbound, said, “At its core, Unbound is about freedom. The brand is built on a simple belief that men are more than the roles they are expected to play, and that self-care can be a powerful expression of that freedom. Our research showed that men feel most like themselves when they are immersed in activities they love, whether it’s sport, fitness, or pushing their limits. That insight became the starting point for Unbound. We are extending this idea of liberation across every aspect of the brand—from the moments that matter most to men, to freeing them from sub-par products and unnecessary complexity. At Unbound, everything is designed to enable men to care for themselves without friction, so they can live fully, freely, and in motion.”

Atul Arora, Co-Founder and COO of Unbound, added, “Unbound is being built as more than just a personal care brand. Men’s grooming in India is evolving from basic hygiene to more considered self-care, and we see a clear whitespace for a brand that brings together scientific credibility with a premium, lifestyle-led identity. Having Fireside Ventures partner with us at this stage is incredibly meaningful, given their experience in building some of India’s most iconic consumer brands. This funding allows us to scale responsibly, accelerate product innovation, strengthen brand building, and expand our digital-first distribution across India.”

Prayag Mohanty, Principal who leads Early Venture investments at Fireside Ventures, added, “The men’s personal care category in India is entering an exciting phase of evolution, moving beyond basic grooming to performance-led skincare solutions. Unbound stands out for its clear philosophy of simplifying grooming while delivering high-efficacy formulations designed for modern lifestyles. We feel Kanika and Atul, who come with deep domain expertise and very complementary skillsets across brand building, growth, consumer insight, and product development, are best placed to address this large, growing consumer segment. We believe the brand sits at a compelling intersection of performance and self-care, and we are excited to partner with the team as they build a differentiated offering in this fast-growing category.”
