Commonwealth Games 2022 : Neeraj Chopra Injury

Date:

Olympic champion Neeraj Chopra ruled out of Birmingham CWG 2022 due to injury.

Birmingham CWG 2022 is going to be held  from 28th July and Neeraj Chopra will not be able to participate in it. Neeraj Chopra, India’s biggest hope, has been injured in the final of the World Championship due to which he is not fit for the game as yet as has already been informed by Mr,Rajeev Mehta, Secretary General, Indian Olympic Association. Thus India has suffered a major setback in the Commonwealth Games. Following his participation in the 2022 World Athletics Championships in Eugene, Mr. Chopra had  an MRI scan done on Monday and, based on it, he has been advised a month’s rest by his medical team,” Mehta added. According to sources close to the athlete, it’s a minor groin strain but as a precautionary measure he has been asked to take rest.

Neeraj had picked up the injury during the recently-concluded World Athletics Championships in USA’s Eugene, where he had created history by becoming only the second Indian and first male track and field athlete to win a medal – a silver  at the Worlds. In the process, he ended the Indian athletics’ 19-year long wait for a second medal at the Worlds after long jumper Anju Bobby George’s bronze in Paris in 2003.

Let us tell you that Neeraj Chopra has just won the silver medal in the World Championship and he has already won the gold medal in the Tokyo Olympics as well. After winning the silver medal in the World Championship, Neeraj Chopra stated -though the start was not good but after throwing 88.15 meters in the fourth round, he was confident of getting a medal but unfortunately he suffered a groin strain.
