How a Systematic Investment Plan may help you build disciplined investing habits

A Systematic Investment Plan (SIP) allows you to contribute a fixed amount at regular intervals, helping you approach investing in a structured and predictable manner. This approach may support investors who prefer consistency and wish to build investing habits that align with their financial horizon.

How an SIP can potentially help build a regular investing habit

By understanding how it works and the factors you may consider, you may be better placed to make informed decisions that suit your needs.

Understanding how a Systematic Investment Plan works

A Systematic Investment Plan allows you to invest a chosen amount at a set frequency. This method spreads contributions over time, which may help you participate in the market without relying on one-time investment decisions. You may choose the contribution amount based on suitability, your financial horizon, and the level of market participation you are comfortable with.

When you explore how a Systematic Investment Plan functions, you may notice that it encourages regular investing rather than timing market movements. This habit-building approach may support long-term financial discipline for investors who prefer systematic contribution patterns.

Building disciplined habits through regular investing

One of the important aspects of a Systematic Investment Plan is the consistency it brings. When you contribute regularly, you may be able to focus more on building habits that help you stay committed to your long-term financial approach.

For example, contributing Rs. 1,000 every month over a few years may show how regular investing builds momentum over time.

This steady pattern may make it easier to stay aligned with your financial goals, while giving you the flexibility to adjust contributions when required.

*For illustrative purpose only

How a Systematic Investment Plan may support long-term investing

A Systematic Investment Plan may help you stay invested across different market phases. When contributions are spread out, the likelihood of staying invested over longer periods may increase. This approach may offer benefits when combined with a clear understanding of risks, your financial horizon, and your expected contribution pattern.

Investing through a Systematic Investment Plan also aligns with a structured approach to markets. Instead of focusing on short-term changes, you may concentrate on the overall pattern of regular investing. This may make the experience more predictable and may help reduce the impact of short-term volatility on your decision-making.

Key considerations before starting

Before starting a Systematic Investment Plan, you may consider factors such as your monthly budget, your investing horizon, and the kind of exposure you are comfortable with. Assessing these elements may help you choose a contribution amount that feels suitable and sustainable over time.

You may also consider whether you prefer a long-term or medium-term approach. Reviewing your contributions periodically may support better alignment with your financial situation. The objective is to create a steady rhythm that you may comfortably maintain.

Placing a Systematic Investment Plan within your overall financial approach

While deciding how a Systematic Investment Plan fits into your financial approach, you may look at how it works alongside other options you are evaluating. The consistency of contributions may complement your savings behaviour, helping you gradually build a market-linked corpus that reflects your investing style.

In this context, equity mutual funds may be one of the instruments available to implement your Systematic Investment Plan, depending on your suitability and preferences. Understanding how it works within your broader financial framework may support more informed decisions as you plan.

You may explore funds like equity mutual funds to understand how a systematic investment plan could help.

Conclusion

A Systematic Investment Plan offers a structured way to build disciplined investing habits. By making regular contributions, you may stay aligned with your financial approach while gradually participating in the markets. The flexibility to choose contribution amounts, review them periodically, and stay invested over time may support your long-term objectives. Taking the time to understand how it works, and reviewing its place within your broader financial considerations, may help you move towards a more consistent investing pattern.

Esri India Introduces Bharat ENVI to Tap The Fast-Growing Satellite Data Analytics Market

Esri India, a leader in Geographic Information Systems (GIS), today announced the launch of ‘Bharat ENVI,’ a geospatial image processing and analysis software. This launch of ‘Bharat ENVI’ brings world-class remote sensing and analytics capabilities to ‘Indo ArcGIS’ users, allowing them to make more informed decisions for better governance and economic growth.

ENVI has long been recognized worldwide as a leading solution for extracting actionable insights from remote sensing data from various sources, including satellite, drone, LiDAR, SAR, multispectral, and hyperspectral sensors. It is tightly integrated with Esri’s ArcGIS platform and lets GIS users seamlessly access and analyze imagery to solve critical problems with confidence.

Indian GIS user organizations can now combine the power of Indo ArcGIS with Bharat ENVI, leveraging the large repository of Indian content and AI models in ‘Indo ArcGIS Living Atlas’. This tightly integrated capability is crucial for a range of activities, including land-use planning, resource management, and effective policy implementation.

Bharat ENVI also includes an essential toolset, accessible to both experts and new users. This intuitive toolset allows satellite imagery users to automate the extraction of features like water bodies, mining pits, crops, settlements, etc., from readily available satellite datasets, such as Landsat 8, Sentinel-2, and Sentinel-1. It is also capable of extracting building footprints and detecting ships through advanced deep learning techniques.

Agendra Kumar, Managing Director, Esri India, said, “The introduction of Bharat ENVI strengthens the geospatial technology ecosystem in the country. As organizations increasingly rely on satellite imagery and remote sensing for planning, sustainability, and national development, Bharat ENVI’s advanced analytics will significantly complement the capabilities of Indo ArcGIS, widely used across India.”

The availability of Bharat ENVI will enable more than 1.2 million ArcGIS users from over 6500 organizations in India to access powerful ENVI image processing tools directly within the ArcGIS environment, while benefiting from localized datasets, analytical tools, and AI capabilities.

Oaktree Capital Invests Rs. 750 Crore in Market of India at SPR City, Boosting Chennai's Largest Township

SPR Construction Private Limited (SPR) has secured Rs. 750 crore of investments from funds managed by Oaktree Capital Management, L.P. (Oaktree), one of the world’s leading alternative investment managers, with USD 209 billion in assets under management. This investment marks a major milestone for SPR City – Chennai’s largest integrated township – and reinforces global investor confidence in the project’s strong fundamentals.

Oaktree Capital Invests Rs. 750 Crore in Market of India at SPR City, Boosting Chennai’s Largest Township

The funds will accelerate the completion of SPR’s flagship developments:

  • The Market of India, and

  • The Mall of Madras,

together expected to redefine not only Chennai but also Southern India’s Shopping and Trade Landscape.

This investment is projected to unlock value for 3.5 million sq. ft. of commercial assets, mainly covering:

  • Mall of Madras Coming with 6-Screen Cinema & over 300+ Branded Stores

  • Market of India comprising 3000+ units serving categories like Gems & Jewellery, Electronincs, Building material, Textile & Acessories, Imported items, Packed foods & Multiple commodities

This investment is a very small fraction of the asset value expected to be unlocked in the next 8–12 months. This funding also allows full repayment of existing Altico Capital debt on the project.

Combined, the two assets will form the largest multi-commodity trade and shopping destination across South Asia (SAARC nations).

As per trends, any commercial place generates direct employment for one person and indirect employment for three people for every 100 sq. ft.

With this analogy, 3.5 million sq. ft. of Market of India and Mall combined will generate direct employment for 35,000 people and indirect employment for over 100,000 people, thus transforming the socio-economic landscape of not only North Chennai but the entire Southern India, in terms of trade and shopping.

Why Oaktree Invested

Oaktree’s decision follows extensive due diligence conducted by leading global advisors including Deloitte (financial & tax), AZB Partners (legal & title), Knight Frank (technical & cost), and Planmaxx (mall advisory & feasibility).

The key factors influencing the investment include:

  • Strong asset coverage and high sales visibility

  • The rapidly rising prominence of the Perambur Mill area, located just 4 km from Chennai Central — drawing parallels to Mumbai’s Lower Parel mill transformation

  • SPR’s leadership in delivering high-rise and integrated township developments in Chennai

SPR has previously raised capital from JM Financial, Piramal, and LIC Housing, all of which have been fully repaid due to the project’s robust revenue generation.

The partnership with Oaktree further enhances SPR’s credibility with institutional investors, lenders, and homebuyers, ensuring timely delivery of the next phase of SPR City. With over 55% of retail space already leased and strong progress across residential and commercial components, SPR City is poised to emerge as the transformative growth hub of North Chennai.

Nutritionist Sakshi Lalwani Debunks Myths on Palm Oil, Labels and Everyday Nutrition

With growing confusion around which cooking oils are truly healthy, the ongoing podcast series aims to help Indian households make informed, science-based choices. An episode that features nutritionist Sakshi Lalwani, who clarifies everyday concerns about cooking oil selection, label reading and safe cooking practices. The episodes blend relatable food conversations with evidence-led insights on fats, nutrition and the important role palm oil plays in Indian kitchens.

Nutritionist Sakshi Lalwani Debunks Myths on Palm Oil, Labels and Everyday Nutrition

Episode Highlights

In the first Episode, Sakshi explains the basics of palm oil, a plant-based oil extracted from the fruit of the oil palm tree. She breaks down how palm olein is naturally trans-fat free, stable at high temperatures, and contains Vitamin E tocotrienols and, the red palm oil contains beta-carotene, a source of provitamin A. She highlights palm oil’s balanced fatty acid mix (around 50% saturated, 40% monounsaturated and 10% polyunsaturated fats) and emphasizes that smart cooking habits, not the elimination of any one oil, are key to healthier meals.

In the next Episode, she unfolds the increasing appearance of “No Palm Oil” labels and explains how these tags are largely marketing-led, designed to create a perception of being healthier without reflecting true nutritional value. She advises listeners to look beyond front labels, check the ingredients list, and understand what oils are used as a replacement when palm oil is removed.

What Science Says About Palm Oil

The series highlights that palm oil, when used as part of a balanced diet, contains beneficial compounds such as tocotrienols and carotenoids (in red palm oil), which are powerful antioxidants. Food science shows that palm oil is stable at high temperatures, resistant to oxidation, neutral in flavour, has a long shelf life, less chances of forming harmful compounds as compared to other vegetable oils, and is naturally trans-fat free and does not need to go through the process of partial hydrogenation. It also absorbs less oil into food, leading to crisp and evenly fried dishes.

Aligned With ICMR Dietary Guidelines

Sakshi reinforces the ICMR–NIN Dietary Guidelines (2024), which recommend keeping visible fats to 25–30 g per person per day and rotating different plant-based oils to maintain a balanced fatty acid profile. Within this approach, palm oil is positioned as one of several suitable options for everyday Indian cooking.

Supporting India’s Edible Oil Goals: NMEO–OP

The episodes also briefly reference India’s broader edible oil needs. Under the Government of India’s National Mission on Edible Oils – Oil Palm (NMEO–OP), multiple states are expanding oil palm cultivation due to its high productivity, yielding 5–8 times more oil per hectare compared to many other oilseeds crops, helping strengthen domestic supply and reduce reliance on imports.

Understanding ‘No Palm Oil’ Labels

The conversation also aligns with recent views from industry bodies such as IFBA and OTAI, which have noted that “No Palm Oil” claims can mislead consumers. The episodes encourage shoppers to prioritise the overall nutrient profile, ingredient quality, rather than relying on a claim on the front of a pack.

About the Series

This is a six-episode podcast series by the Malaysian Palm Oil Council (MPOC) designed to address misinformation and share scientific facts about palm oil in a simple, relatable way.

Each episode brings expert voices and everyday perspectives to topics like nutrition, health, and sustainability  helping listeners replace myths with understanding. With these conversations, MPOC hopes to encourage balanced, fact-based discussions and highlight palm oil’s rightful place as a versatile, nutritious, and sustainably produced edible oil.

Crompton Expands Its Premium Kitchen Portfolio with Viona Hobs and Eliteo BLDC Chimneys

Kitchens today are evolving beyond function – they’re becoming spaces of comfort, style, and daily connection. Yet, even in modern homes, everyday cooking often brings challenges that disrupt that experience. Recognising this, Crompton Greaves Consumer Electricals Ltd., a brand trusted for innovation and quality, has introduced two new premium solutions under its theme ‘Smart Inside, Stunning Outside’ – the Viona Hobs Series and the Eliteo BLDC Chimney Series. Together, they combine elegant aesthetics with thoughtful design, helping consumers create their dream kitchens. Providing peace of mind to consumers, these launches reflect Crompton’s commitment to addressing the evolving needs of Indian households.

In most Indian kitchens, the challenges extend beyond just cooking. Spilled milk or water often seeps beneath burners, leading to hygiene concerns and damage, while hob installations can create slab-cutting worries. Many households also find cleaning tedious or postpone upgrades due to layout constraints. At the same time, families want faster cooking with less gas consumption, and seek stylish yet safe appliances that complement their lifestyle. Similarly, heavy smoke during frying or roti toasting, oil accumulation that clogs chimneys, and the need to remember manual auto-clean cycles remain everyday frustrations. Consumers also increasingly desire chimneys with powerful suction, quieter operations, and advanced BLDC motor technology at an affordable price. Designed with these needs in mind, the Viona Series Hobs and Eliteo BLDC Chimneys offer intuitive solutions that simplify cooking, ensure safety, and elevates the modern kitchen experience.

This innovation reflects Crompton’s focus on creating appliances that are both high-performing and deeply intuitive. Some of the standout features of the Viona Hobs Series include:

  • Sealed Burners System: One of the most common kitchen issues is liquid seepage into burners, especially during milk or water spills. Viona’s sealed burner design prevents this, ensuring hygiene, avoiding internal damage, and reducing cleaning time — delivering convenience and peace of mind every day.

  • Direct Flame Burners: Specially designed for Indian cooking styles, the vertical flame ensures faster, more even heat distribution. This not only saves time but also improves energy efficiency, making it ideal for heavy-duty meal preparation.

  • Flame Failure Device: If a flame goes out accidentally, this built-in safety feature automatically cuts off the gas supply — reducing leakage risks and ensuring a safer cooking environment.

  • Hybrid Hobtop Design: For homeowners who want a sleek hob without modifying their kitchen slab, Viona’s dual-use format offers flexibility. It functions as both a built-in hob and a countertop appliance, making it ideal for rented homes, remodels, or upgrades without civil work.

Equally, the Eliteo BLDC Chimney Series has been crafted to directly address common frustrations faced in Indian kitchens:

  • Rapid 1900 m³/hr Suction: Smoke-filled kitchens can make cooking stressful. With its powerful suction capacity, Eliteo clears smoke, fumes, and odours in seconds — creating a fresh, breathable atmosphere and making every cooking experience more comfortable.

  • Intelligent AutoClean: Remembering to clean chimneys is often inconvenient. Crompton’s patented AutoClean technology solves this by automatically cleaning the chimney after every 30 hours of usage. This not only saves time and effort but also maintains consistent performance with zero manual intervention.

  • Smart On: Cooking often begins in a hurry, and switching on appliances can feel like an extra step. With its inbuilt thermal sensor, the chimney powers on automatically when it detects cooking activity. This seamless, hands-free feature ensures the kitchen stays fresh without a second thought.

We are true to our promise of ‘Smart Inside and Stunning Outside’ with high performance sealed burners that take the hassle out of cleaning to hybrid sleek designs for versatile usage, intelligent chimney cleaning that cleans the chimney on its own so you can focus on the joy of cooking, without the stress of cleaning. It’s our endeavour to make the modern kitchen more intuitive, designed around you, and a source of pride with its modern aesthetics. With these launches, we aim to redefine what Indian families can expect from premium cooking appliances: elegant, efficient, and thoughtfully designed.”

To support the launch, Crompton has rolled out a high-impact, multi-platform campaign across digital channels such as Meta and YouTube, complemented by engaging social media content and strong in-store visibility. Truecaller Launches New Study Mapping India's Urban Attention Patterns

Truecaller today released a new analysis of how India’s 400 million urban smartphone users engage across apps, revealing strong habitual usage patterns and a premium, high-intent audience profile. The study is based on passive mobile behaviour data from VTION’s urban smartphone panel, extrapolated to India’s full urban base.

Truecaller launches the state of trust & attention report

The report highlights how Truecaller has become a daily high-attention touchpoint for millions of Indians. With 310 million active users in India and 450 million globally, the platform plays a distinctive role in how people verify, respond, transact and make decisions in low-noise, high-intent moments.

Users come to Truecaller in a trust mindset. They open the app looking for clarity and confidence before taking action, and that behaviour creates naturally high-attention moments. This study shows how those trusted, high-intent interactions contribute to meaningful incremental reach and help brands engage audiences who are ready to act,” said Archana Roche, Global Head of Measurement, Truecaller.

Key highlights of the report

Methodology

The analysis is based on VTION’s passive mobile behaviour measurement panel which captures real continuous app usage signals. The dataset reflects 400 million urban smartphone users and is extrapolated from the August 2025 panel with 95 percent confidence.

The report shows that Truecaller provides 26 to 38 percent verified incremental reach with audiences that are typically over and above other digital channels. This habitual high-frequency engagement creates additive attention rather than overlapping impressions.
