IBA’s National Beverage Conclave 2024: Paving the Way for India as a Global Beverage Processing Hub

The Indian Beverage Association (IBA) is organizing the National Beverage Conclave 2024, which will be held at the ITC Maurya Hotel, Sardar Patel Marg, New Delhi. The conclave, scheduled for December 4, 2024, shall focus on the theme of “Making India a Global Beverage Processing Hub“.

The Conclave aims to position the Non-alcoholic Beverage Industry as a key driver of Indias transformation into a global beverage processing hub. The conclave will also lay touchstone emphasis on sustainable practices in beverage production, reflecting on the industrys commitment to environmental responsibility. It will spotlight the industrys potential to solidify India’s position as a key player in the global beverage processing market and contribute towards the Government of India’s vision of “doubling farmer’s income and thereby the national economy as part of the “Viksit Bharat initiative.”

The Event shall bring together key stakeholders including Policymakers, Regulatory bodies, Food Processing & Standards Authorities, Export & Trade bodies and other key players within the beverage industry. The global non-alcoholic beverage market was valued at USD 1.8 trillion in 2024 and is expected to reach USD 3.8 trillion by 2034 rising at a CAGR of 7.75%. Similar growth can be observed within India as well, with the industry having a market size of approximately $16 billion in 2023, which is expected to grow to $23 billion by 2028 at a CAGR of 7.29%.

The Indian Non-alcoholic beverage industry also plays a significant role in employment generation, with over a million jobs created across the value chain as of now, up from 6.9 lakh in 2019, driven by 30% market growth. The industry also supports millions of informal workers and contributes substantially to retail incomes, with beverages occupying over 85% of retail stores nationwide and accounting for 11% of the Total Income as an estimate of the retailer’s revenue. Despite being the world’s largest producer of key raw materials like banana, mango, lime, papaya, milk, and sugar, India’s potential as a global beverage processing hub remains untapped due to supply chain gaps and regulatory challenges. Scaling up processing facilities and adopting modern standards can position India as a leader in global beverage production.

Commenting on the conclave, Mr. JP Meena, Secretary General, IBA stated, India holds immense potential to emerge as a global hub for beverage processing. The upcoming National Beverage Conclave 2.0 aims to create meaningful dialogues to help the industry grow. For this event, we are bringing together industry partners and policymakers to unlock and elevate our potential. As an association, we are dedicated to driving innovation, fostering investment, and enabling collaboration to firmly establish India as a global leader in the beverage industry.” He added that major players had already invested Rs 50,000 crore in the sector in the last few years and that investments could rise to Rs 80,000 crore in the next five years with the right facilitative environment.

The Conclave will build on IBA’s roadmap for making India a global beverage processing hub by 2030. It will focus on best practices, policy recommendations, and fostering an ecosystem that drives export-oriented growth, innovation, and international collaboration. It aims to position India as a global beverage processing hub, leveraging the non-alcoholic beverage industry’s potential to contribute significantly to the nation’s economic growth and its journey toward becoming a 5 trillion-dollar economy.

The Best Time to Start Retirement Planning is Now, says HDFC Life’s Latest Campaign

HDFC Life, one of India’s leading insurers, has unveiled its latest campaign focused on the critical need for timely retirement planning. The growing elderly population in India coupled with rising life expectancy due to advancements in healthcare and improved standards of living, makes retirement planning imperative.

The Best Time to Start Retirement Planning is Now, says HDFC Lifes Latest Campaign

With individuals projected to require 30 years of income post-retirement by 2050*, early and strategic retirement planning is essential. Despite recognising the importance of starting early, many Indians face a significant gap between intent and action. Alarmingly, 90% of individuals, above the age of 50 years, regret having delayed their retirement planning**.

HDFC Life’s latest campaign highlights a common barrier leading to postponement of retirement planning. Parents usually prioritise financial commitments such as home loan repayments, children’s education, or immediate family needs over their own retirement planning. This postponement diminishes the retirement corpus, as late planning offers limited time for wealth accumulation.

HDFC Life’s new campaign leverages a relatable milestone – a child’s departure for college – as a pivotal moment for parents to begin their retirement planning journey. The campaign aims to create awareness about the need to secure one’s financial future while balancing familial responsibilities.

In this campaign for HDFC Life, through the story of the couple who are transitioning to a new phase in life as they deal with an empty nest, we wanted to reiterate that this is also a time to shift your financial priorities, as you set your sights toward retirement and funding the next chapter of your life. And who better than HDFC Life to plan this with.”

HKTB’s Hong Kong WinterFest is Launched with a Grand Opening Featuring Magical Christmas Town and Winter Harbourfront Pyrotechnic Display

Hong Kong
The annual winter holiday extravaganza Hong Kong WinterFest, organised by the Hong Kong Tourism Board (HKTB), has begun. To usher in the joyful Christmas season, a bigger-than-ever, gift-themed Christmas Town covering more than 10,000 square feet was unwrapped to the public, while the Winter Harbourfront Pyrotechnic Display had its first showing.

Clockwise: Christmas Tree in Christmas Town, Photo Spots for Visitors in Christmas Town, Winter Harbourfront Pyrotechnic Displays Ignite the Festive Season

This year’s highly-anticipated Christmas Town is 30 percent bigger than last year’s, giving visitors a host of fantastic photo opportunities. Busy gnomes have filled Christmas Town with nearly 100 decorated gift boxes of different shapes and sizes in vibrant colours. With delightful gift boxes on every corner, locals and tourists will find themselves walking through an enchanting winter wonderland whichever way they turn.

Towering 20 metres above Christmas Town and as high as a six-storey building, the giant Christmas tree is decorated with colourful ornaments and topped with a sparkling octagonal star. For the first time, the tree will feature light projections of seasonal scenes dancing across its branches, including Christmas candies, snowmen, and snow.

Colourfully decorated photo spots are scattered across Christmas Town and, for the first time, there is a Festive Light Tunnel for visitors to walk through. As they step in, they will find themselves immersed in a magical scene of busy gnomes hard at work preparing gifts for Christmas in a quaint, snowy village filled with smoke. Inside Christmas Town, visitors will also find traces of the Christmas gnomes and their good friends, Hong Kong’s iconic pandas. Santa Claus himself will make surprise appearances for meets-and-greets in a cosy Christmas hut. The HKTB has also arranged handbell and choir performances to help visitors get into the Christmas party spirit.

After the premiere of the spectacular Winter Harbourfront Pyrotechnic Display, which dazzled crowds with its bursts of festive pyrotechnics, the display will return for three consecutive nights at 8:00 pm on 24, 2,5 and 26 December, bringing explosions of holiday joy to the skies of Hong Kong and preparing the city for the hugely popular New Year Countdown Fireworks Display.

Locals and tourists can visit the Hong Kong WinterFest events website to find out more about the most exciting activities and events around the city as well as shopping offers and exclusive dining privileges to light up their holiday celebrations.
