Sony India introduces the ILCE-7V, the highly anticipated fifth generation in the popular Alpha 7 Full-frame mirrorless line-up powered by the newly developed partially stacked Exmor RS™ CMOS image sensor with approximately 33.0 effective MP (megapixels). The new image processing engine BIONZ XR2™(1) incorporates the AI processing unit functions of the latest α™ (AlphaTM) series. AI-Powered Performance Boosts

The ILCE-7V integrates the AI processing unit into the BIONZ XR2 engine, delivering a substantial leap in autofocus speed, accuracy, and reliability. The ILCE-7V has up to 30% improvement(4) in Real-time Recognition AF that instantly recognizes targeted subjects and continues to capture them with high precision. With 759 phase-detection points and up to 94% frame coverage, the camera ensures precise subject tracking across nearly the entire image area, even in challenging low-light conditions down to EV -4.0(5). High-resolution RAW processing is now supported through Imaging Edge Desktop application(6) for unapparelled post-production flexibility.

 

No compromise High-speed Continuous Shooting

The combination of a partially stacked Exmor RS™ CMOS image sensor with approximately 4.5 times faster(7) readout speed increased and the BIONZ XR2™ processor results in high image quality with minimal distortion.

 

Additionally, high-precision tracking with up to 60 times AF/AE calculations per second and blackout-free continuous shooting up to 30 fps(8) with our philosophy has always been centered around understanding creators and building products that enable them to bring their ideas to life with confidence. India is witnessing a remarkable rise of visual creators, and Sony India is proud to play a role in enabling this growth. The Pre-Capture function(10), which can record up to 1 second before the shutter is pressed, captures decisive moments even with subjects whose movements are difficult to predict, such as pets and sports.

 

Outstanding Still Image Performance

Engineered for maximum creative control, the ILCE-7V achieves up to 16 stops of dynamic range(11), ensuring remarkable tonal detail across highlights and shadows. Even in scenes with extreme contrast, it expresses natural and smooth gradations from dark to bright areas.

 

The newly introduced AI-driven Auto White Balance (AWB) leverages advanced scene analysis for consistent color rendering and uses light source estimation through deep learning technology. By automatically identifying the light source in the shooting environment with high precision and adjusting to appropriate color tones, it enables natural and stable color reproduction, resulting in more faithful colors and reducing post-production workload. 

 

Versatile Video Capabilities

Expanding creative possibilities for hybrid creators, the ILCE-7V introduces additional 4K recording modes, including 7K oversampled 4K 60p recording(12) available in full-frame mode and 4K 120p(13) recording in APS-C mode/Super 35mm delivers rich, detailed footage with exceptional flexibility in editing.  Full pixel readout without pixel binning enables highly detailed video recording to the finest details.

 

The image stabilization features Dynamic Active Mode(14), enabling smooth and stable video expression even when handheld. Users can enjoy high-quality video recording in a wide range of scenes, from vlogs and creative productions to capturing family memories. 

 

The camera also features an Auto Framing function that automatically maintains optimal composition of subjects during recording through AI-powered subject recognition. This enables stable composition video recording in various scenes.

 

New in-camera noise reduction and improved internal mic functionality(15) ensures high-quality audio recording by reducing steady background noises, minimizing interference, and maintaining natural sound.

 

Built for Reliability

The ILCE-7V features upgraded power management and enhanced stamina performance, enabling longer shooting sessions without interruption. A new Monitor Low Bright mode extends battery life(16) even further, while improved thermal management supports extended(17) 4K recording with uncompromised quality, approximately 630 shots when using viewfinder per CIPA standards.

 

FE 28-70mm F3.5-5.6 OSS II – The All-Around Lens

Compact, lightweight, and engineered for speed, the FE 28-70mm F3.5-5.6 OSS II lens is designed to fully leverage the continuous shooting(18) capabilities of the ILCE-7V sensor. When combined with compatible cameras, this new lens offers up to 120 fps AF/AE tracking(19), continuous shooting, seamless body-lens coordinated image stabilization, AF available even during zooming, and built-in breathing compensation support. From dynamic action shots to fast-paced events or high-quality video capture, this lens delivers smooth, dependable responsiveness and flexibility.

Aligned with Sony’s ambitious ‘Road to Zero’ initiative, this product supports the company’s vision for achieving a zero environmental footprint by 2050. 1 in 2 Cricket Viewers Use Truecaller During Matches

Cricket in India is more than a sport. It functions as a behavioural system that influences how people think, decide, coordinate and spend. The Great Indian Cricket Fan on Truecaller, a new study by Truecaller in partnership with VTION, reveals that key cricket moments consistently translate into real-world actions on mobile phones, shaping communication patterns and consumer behaviour in real time.

The study underscores that cricket represents a high-intent moment, rather than a passive viewing occasion. Nearly one in two cricket viewers is active on Truecaller during matches, according to the study, offering brands access to audiences precisely when coordination and decision-making peak. The study observes an approximately 21 percent uplift in active usage on Truecaller versus pre-cricket baselines, driven by increased calling and utility-led behaviour rather than passive browsing.

“Cricket delivers unmatched scale for brands, but scale alone is no longer sufficient. What truly drives impact is access to moments when people are ready to act. Truecaller enables brands to show up within trusted, decision-led environments during cricket, transforming heightened attention into meaningful, measurable outcomes,” said Hemant Arora, VP of Global Ad Business at Truecaller.
 

Cricket has evolved into a dual-screen experience: television fuels emotion, while the mobile phone is where action unfolds. The study reveals that 76 percent of viewers use their phone while watching cricket, spanning activities like messaging, score checks, food ordering and payments, with clear usage uplift across multiple high-value categories, signalling heightened intent and transaction readiness.
 

“Cricket does not end on the TV screen. It continues on the phone. Because the phone is always in hand during live matches, decisions shift there. Our study shows that in these high-emotion moments, people move toward trusted utility environments to act. Calling apps and payment platforms emerge among the most trusted environments, and Truecaller is one of them,” said Archana Roche, Global Head of Measurement & Analytics, Truecaller.
 

The study positions Truecaller as a key decision environment during cricket, where attention, trust and action converge. These insights underpin Truecaller’s cricket season offerings, which are seeing strong adoption from brands across key categories.

Methodology
The study combines passive mobile behaviour signals from approximately 12,300 cricket viewers from VTION panel who are Truecaller users and a primary survey on VTION panel of 828 respondents analysed in partnership with VTION, a digital intelligence platform specialising in passive mobile-behaviour measurement. Primary survey fieldwork was conducted among cricket viewers in Dec 2025. Passive mobile behaviour was observed continuously across the March-May 2025 cricket window and benchmarked against a pre-cricket baseline.

Chandigarh University Hosts International Dance & Music Festival 2026, Artists from 33 Countries Give Eclectic Performances, Promote Global Cultural Exchange

In a grand global celebration of art, multiculturism and timeless traditions, Chandigarh University in association with Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR), Ministry of External Affairs organized India International Dance and Music Festival 2026 – One World, Many Cultures where more than 350 international artists from as many as 33 countries delivered mesmerizing artistic performances on the opening day of the two-day festival on Monday.

Chandigarh University has been holding this event in association with ICCR that promotes India’s global cultural engagement through exchanges, festivals, scholarships for foreign students, showcasing Indian arts while welcoming international cultural delegations.

 

Speaking on the occasion, Satnam Singh Sandhu, Member of Parliament (Rajya Sabha) and Chancellor Chandigarh University said, “Chandigarh University has always believed that there is no stronger medium than art to bring nations together, elevate India’s global image and project the nation as a rising world power as art is a universal language understood by all. Art and culture play a pivotal role in connecting India with the world, nurturing a conducive atmosphere for meaningful relationships and strengthen bonds of friendship with nations across the globe. Owing to the visionary efforts of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, India has today emerged as a global hub for foreign tourists. Since 2014, the country has witnessed a remarkable surge in tourist arrivals whether it is cultural or heritage, medical or spiritual in recent years. Not only this international students also now view India as an excellent destination for quality education. This is evident from the fact that at present over 3000 foreign students from 65 countries are pursuing their studies at Chandigarh University.”

Dressed in their colourful traditional attires, the troupes of artists showcased the beauty of indigenous music and dance cultures of their respective countries. All the cultural troupes from different nations took part in the procession on the CU campus – celebrating the diverse cultures and unity of diversity.

 

The troupes of artists who delivered spectacular performances during the festival were from Kazakhstan & LGMF group (74 members), Kyrgyzstan (15 members), Malaysia (17 members), Maldives (11 members), Lithuania (8 members), Uzbekistan (9 members) and Burkina Faso (9 members).

 

Apart from that artists from Nepal, Bhutan, Bangladesh, Sudan, Tanzania, Ivory Coast, Liberia, Lesotho, Myanmar, Yemen, Sri Lanka, Angola, Malawi, Cameroon, Syria, Zimbabwe, South Sudan, Congo, Thailand, Uganda, Mali, Namibia, Kenya, Somalia, Ghana and Madagascar also enthralled one and all with the mesmerizing performances.

 

In the first performance of the day, the 80-member Lakshminarayana Global Music Festival group, presented by Dr L Subramaniam and Kavita Krishnamurty Subramaniam, took the stage featuring the Astana Philharmonic Symphony Orchestra, the Chamber Choir of the Aktobe Regional Philharmonic and the Dance Ensemble ‘Gakku’ from Kazakhstan. The Gakku group, known for their fast-paced performances and traditional ballet style, showcased the history of Kazakhstan, the bravery of its horsemen and the vast open landscapes through their dance.

 

The audience was enthralled by the 15-member Folklore Ensemble ‘Aalam’ and Dance Group ‘Ademi’ from the Osh Regional Philharmonic, Kyrgyz Republic. The word Aalam translates to world or universe in Kyrgyz, symbolizing the ensemble’s mission to represent the rich heritage and traditions of Kyrgyzstan on a global stage. Through their energetic and traditional dance forms, the performers brought to life Kyrgyz folk tales, celebrated the courage of horsemen, and showcased the vibrant cultural tapestry of the country’s nomadic heritage. Their performance was a vivid portrayal of Kyrgyz culture, connecting audiences to the rhythms, stories and spirit of Central Asia.

 

Adding to the international spectacle was a 17-member troupe Sutra Foundation from Malaysia that presented their piece titled ‘Radhe-Radhe: The Sweet Surrender’. This performance drew inspiration from Indian devotional traditions, celebrating the timeless love and devotion associated with Lord Krishna and Radha. The name itself conveys surrender, devotion and harmony, reflecting the ensemble’s mission to connect cultures through music and dance. With graceful choreography and emotive expressions, the team highlighted the universality of Indian art forms, while building a bridge between Malaysian and Indian cultural narratives. The artists from other nations also delivered mesmerizing performances of music and dance from their respective countries.

Kauvery Hospital Alwarpet has successfully performed a rare and technically complex neurovascular procedure to prevent a potentially devastating stroke in a patient with rapidly progressive vertebral artery stenosis, a condition that is distinct from routine stroke interventions and far less commonly encountered.

The patient,a 42 year old gentleman with a history of diabetes, hypertension, and high cholesterol, had been asymptomatic until six months ago. While driving from Bengaluru to Chennai, he suddenly experienced difficulty controlling his car steering, noticing that the vehicle was drifting to one side. Recognising the seriousness of the episode, he immediately sought neurological consultation.


A CT angiogram revealed moderate (approximately 60%) narrowing of the left vertebral artery, one of the major arteries supplying blood to the brainstem and posterior parts of the brain. The right vertebral artery was normal. As this was his first episode, he was treated with optimal medical therapy, including dual antiplatelet agents, statins, and strict metabolic control, and was discharged with close follow-up.


However, a few months later, despite strict compliance with medication, the patient experienced a recurrence of symptoms while driving. A repeat CT angiogram showed rapid progression of the narrowing to nearly 95%, placing him at very high risk of a posterior circulation stroke, which can be life-threatening and often disabling. “Although the patient was young and initially stable on medication, the sudden progression of the blockage made intervention essential. Treating it in time ensured complete recovery without neurological damage,”, said Dr Venkatraman Karthikaeyan, Senior Consultant Neurologist, Kauvery Hospital Alwarpet. 


Given the recurrence of symptoms and the unusually rapid progression despite optimal medical therapy, the multidisciplinary team recommended endovascular vertebral artery angioplasty and stenting. Unlike routine stroke procedures, which commonly involve the carotid or intracranial arteries, vertebral artery interventions are infrequently performed and are technically demanding, as the artery supplies critical areas such as the brainstem and cerebellum.


The minimally invasive procedure was successfully performed by the Interventional Radiologist of Kauvery Hospital Alwarpet. Through a tiny puncture in the groin or wrist, a catheter was navigated to the severely narrowed vertebral artery. Balloon angioplasty followed by stent placement was used to completely reopen the artery, restoring normal blood flow to the posterior circulation of the brain.


The patient was monitored in the ICU for 24 hours and shifted to the ward the next day. He was discharged on the third postoperative day. On follow-up, he remained asymptomatic and has returned to normal daily activities without any neurological deficit.


Speaking about the case, Dr. Sathya Narayanan R, Senior Consultant – Interventional Radiology, said, “This was not a routine stroke procedure. Vertebral artery stenosis progressing so rapidly despite optimal medical therapy is uncommon and potentially dangerous. Intervention in this artery requires high technical expertise, as it supplies vital structures of the brain. Endovascular angioplasty and stenting allowed us to restore blood flow safely without open surgery or prolonged hospitalisation.”
